I don't know exactly, but here in the UK, a friend of mine works at GAME, and apparently they are selling DSlites with Nintendogs at 12 times the rate they sell PSPs. Make of that what you will. yoshi2542Cheaper things sell more, that's what I make of it.
[QUOTE="go_rambo_ftw"]Dunno but 360 sales own PS3 sales if that's any use to you.McSkombiMaybe because THERE AREN'T ANY PS3's LEFT? And because the 360 is already established with a lot more games available...
Gamecube Vs Xbox....."Who's winning?"......:PSherpicoWhen I saw the american sales numbers on Xbox and GC, I was realy suprised by the small difference! It was like 13 and 15 mill or something... with PS2 at 32 mill or something waay up there :P. Dont quote me on this though!

Yes, you keep on thinking that  I know how much sales mean to you Sony fans (since the PS2 straight up destroyed the Gamecube in that respect) so listen to this little tidbit of info: The DS is outselling the PSP :o Deal with it.[QUOTE="bullet_math"] The DS has been owning the POSP flop since day one /threadavenger40456

I think the DS is strong and on the rise. PSP now has some strong games but the failure of the movie format does not bode well for it. I own both and frankly most of the time DS games are better than I expect and PSP games tend towards a disappiontment. DS does quite a bit with it's limited power. PSP has games that seem great in concept and usually have really good graphics but they tend to be stripped down versions of PS2 games. Example: the original Tiger Woods PGA Tour looked great if you just saw someone playing it. I've played several versions on consoles and thought it would be great to have a portable version. Then....you pop in the disc and find out that the load times are brutal and that there is no actual Tour mode in PGA Tour. Stripped down version of TW 05....not even a Tiger-Viision tool. And this is typical of quite a few PSP games. Even on the games when it gets the gameplay right I find that often in the reviews, and in practice, many of the games are too short and relying on online modes. The touch-screen is not "gimmicky" at all. If it is then I can tell you that the "gimmicky" DS has come up with a much better control scheme for a FPS than PSP has on any game.[QUOTE="bullet_math"] The DS has been owning the POSP flop since day one /threadavenger40456

ROFL  Avenger Gets Owned Portable Hardware DS Lite: 349,828 DS: 10,586 Total DS: 360,414 PSP: 130,466 Portable Software DS software: 1,364,809 GBA software: 1,283,132 PSP software: 653,340 You failed harder than your flop handheld :lol:Why do sales determine the winner?chicken008
why? because of capitalism. If a product doesn't sell, then manufacturers will stop making it = loser. It seems like every holiday season becomes more and more critical. In the PSP's case, with more media players coming out and becoming more affordable (like creative, and sandisk), the PSP must sell well this holiday or else they'll lose out on the media player market. Heck, they already lost out on the gaming market to the DS and GBA.
Why do sales determine the winner?chicken008Dev support. That's why. If a console sells more, developers will put more games on it because of an increased chance of making profits. This is espeically the case here, as DS games cost much less than PSP games to make (A PSP game costs around the same as a GameCube or PS2 game. Ouch.). So that's why sales really matter. Third party support. And if anybody knows the value of third parties, its Nintendo fans.

GBA games outsold PSP games 2:1. I know the PSP has a poor software attatch rate, but that's rediculous.[QUOTE="bullet_math"] The DS has been owning the POSP flop since day one /threadavenger40456

king of let downs. DS killer being outsold everywhere as well and being outsold much worse on software. sony had to cut it's production on it, stating that it was a disappointment.27 million confirmed for DS... 15-17 million PSPs.
What's most worrying for the PSP is how its sales are flattening out. In its strongest territory in terms of existing userbase, North America, it has been outsold for the last four months running by GameBoy Advance. This wasn't always the case. There was more excitement over the PSP previously, it was the top selling handheld in the last half of 2005 and the first half of 2006. If PSP doesn't do really well this holiday shopping season, it's in trouble.
Sony really needs to do something significant to create excitement over the system and get it back in the spotlight. However, I don't know if they can do realistically do this while their attentions are focused on PS3.

Portable Ops will definately spark interest in the hardcore. I know it's the only reason I'm actually interested in a PSP. However, I doubt that'll do much to make up for a year of being beaten in sales by the DS and a DS lineup with a much broader appeal than the PSP can offer.DS is shedding by the boat loads because of NintenDogs, Pokemon (in Japan) and that IQ brain trainer thing. My impression is that PSP is selling to the older, more mature gamer, so the market is smaller. Nintendo have gone for all markets quite well.310792I'd actually guess that the DS is selling to the older, more mature market that doesn't usually play games, while also selling to the usual gaming market. Think of it as... the same sort of people that would play the Sims and not Half-Life are the same ones grabbing DS's.

It better be, because every other Sony exclusive/franchise hasn't made a DENT on DS sales. After MGS, the only thing left is Gran Turismo (though that is their biggest/best exclusive).

It's not the cheapest console/handheld that sells (unless it's WAY cheaper than the competition, like $250 vs $400 VS $600). DS being cheaper than the PSP is one of the reason, but not the most important one. The GAMES are what matters. PSP games appeal more to the Hardcore GAmer (especially Hardcore Cows) front. However, this market is FAR FAR smaller than the DS crowd. DS has games that appeals not only to the hardcore gamers, but also especially casuals and is also bringing in a new crowd, the non-gamers who wouldn't touch games with a ten-foot pole! Read my girlfriend. When we first met, I tried FOREVER to get her to play a round of Halo with me. NO DICE! Although she eventually got hooked on SSB:M and Super Mokey Balls, She would not touch any other game like GTA or Gears. But ever since I got the original DS and showed her Warioware: Touched, she's hooked on Nintendo's "Gimmick" as Cows would call it! Nintendogs was the straw that broke the camel back and now she's completely hogging my DS with games like Trauma Center, Phenoix Wight etc. Now, Well am Cry  cause my DS is gone forever. It now resides forever in my GF's purse cause of a little known game name Brain Age. No I didn't get her the game knowing full well I WILL loose my DS if she ever gets her hand on it. She found out about it from one of her friend. Sigh, now it's another DSL for me for Christmas. Was originally planning to get a Pink DSL for her but now.....
That's why I think Nintendo got a good chance at number 1 this time around. The Wii is at a great "impulse" buying price point. Word of mouth and hype will get even more non-gamers and super casuals interested in it. Hell, If the DS can convince my once "I hate games with a passion" GF, then Wii can do it too! Read my Girlfriend again. She now won't stop complaining until I play at least 1 hour of Wii-Sports with her every night and now, every weekend is a Wii party with her friends with games like Wii Sports, Trauma Center and Rayman. Me? I don't even compute in these processdings. I only get to stand and watch on the side lines as they wave their arms, flail their bodies while laughing their hearts out wondering when I'll get the Wii back for my Zelda session. Sigh, maybe it's a good idea if i get ANOTHER Wii! If I can find one! :o
the dslite is dominating the psp :) and the psp had a 4 month headstart i believe?xtn702ds/dslite...WHO CARES!!!! there both the same console, they both play the same games!!!!! one is just smaller than the other!!!! most people who had a ds swapped it for a lite thats it.
