Does the Wii > Xbox 1 graphical wise? (Poll)

I don't know a lot about why graphics are good and all that. But anyway, I checked up some numbers.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_video_game_consoles_(sixth_generation)

The Xbox has 733 MHz CPU

233 MHz GPU

64 MB RAM.

The Wii has (According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_video_game_consoles_(seventh_generation)#Handheld_systems)

729 Mhz CPU

243 Mhz GPU

24 mb Internal ram and 64mb external ram which means totally 88 mb ram.

This means that the Xbox has 4 mhz more CPU

The Wii has 10 mhz more GPU

The Wii has 24 mb more RAM.

So the Wii beats the strongest 6th generation console, but not by enough to make a big difference.

But shouldn't also the software has improved? So the CDs are stronger?

Anyway, look at the difference from X360 to Ps3 to Wii (From wiki again)

Ps3 and Xbox360 CPU = 3,2 Ghz. Wii CPU = 729 Mhz. X360 and Ps3 + 2471.

Xbox 360 GPU = 500mhz Ps3 GPU= 550 mhz.Wii GPU =243 Mhz. Ps3 GPU = 50+ X360 and 307+ Wii. X360 GPU = 257 mhz + Wii

And the memory stuff (which I don't understand at all :( )

X360

512 MB GDDR3 @ 700 MHz shared between CPU & GPU
10 MB EDRAM GPU frame buffer memory

Ps3

256 MB XDR @ 3,2 GHz
256 MB GDDR3 @ 700 MHz, GPU can access CPU memory

Wii

24 MB "internal" 1T-SRAM integrated into graphics package
64 MB "external" GDDR3 SDRAM
3 MB GPU frame buffer memory.

So IMO the Wii clearly isn't as strong as many sheep claim it to be :cry: (including me, before this :cry: )

And, for the Poll. If you have read this far, and think that the Wii is stronger, then say "I like Cheese" If you think the Xbox 1 is stronger vote "I like Pie" I did it this way to check if people actually read the post, before polling.

Honestly the Wii is truly not that strong and I believe that every gamer that buys a Wii should know this and buy it for its other strong points (artistic, gameplay, wtvr it may be) but not get into hopes of high graphics.

They are close in numbers, but Wii is more powerful.

And I voted before I read, so the last sentence doesn't work.

The original Xbox could also display upto 1080i, had dolby digital support in game, built in hdd for caching levels, and had pixel shaders something the Wii is lacking. The advantages Wii is faster ram, more ram, and a better CPU. Overall i would still give the advantage to Xbox 1 just due to pixel shaders and HD output. Geometry I am guessing the wii is better and programming techniques have improved so they will more than likely get better looking games over Xbox 1.rexoverbey

you missed the difference between cpu architectures. the Wii is powerpc based. the xbox was celeron based.

powerpc is much more powerful with lower clock speeds. the fact that the wii has a higher clock speed just means that the wii obviously has a better cpu.

Does it have the potential? I'm not totally certain. But as of right now, the Wii does NOT have better graphics than the original Xbox. I would argue that so far, the Wiis graphics aren't even better than the GC (or in the case of MP3 only very slightly better).

I think the Wii has a long way to go before it will prove itself graphically. However, I also believe that where most consoles have graphics to prove and game are often bad as developers focus way too much on graphics...the Wii has developers ignoring graphics completely as they play around with the controls.

The wii uses the TEV pipelines for its effects. every thing the old x-box could do the wii can. even gamecube was as strong as the x-box!

A power pc chip will always be > a intel pentium III chip. The GCn chip was benchmarked at about 700MHZ even though the specs said 400+

The wii is specs say 700+ but its bench marked at near 2 ghz. the wii chip is very efficient.
