How much does a cup of coffee cost in your country? 20 bucks?I'm assuming this is the highest US braket. In NZ games can get to $130 and above at EB Games. Which I think is much too high. I've paid that price for one game, and I think even for the best games that's pushing it. I think games should be NZ$110 tops.

wow. Judging by a lot of these responses, no wonder the industry is in trouble. Nobody wants to pay for all the work put into them!
360 sh!tty scratchable dvds arent thats for surePressXtoJumpIf you cant take care of your game discs then you really dont need to be playing video games..maybe you should buy a a box of legos. i owned every console that played CD's or DVD's and they never got scratched to the point that they were unplayable.
[QUOTE="PressXtoJump"][QUOTE="Michael0134567"] Did I get you all butthurt?Michael0134567:lol: sitting around and replying like a frog tongue what a loser  Yup, you're really butthurt. Need some cream or something?
cream? YES PLEASE!
Pretty good responses, aside from the obvious butt hurt trolls on here, it brought a lot of insight into the market. I wonder if people outside of SW feel the same way?
Very few games are worth $60. Usually I just wait a month or two and the prices drop $20 or $30 at least. Borderlands 2 was the last game I paid $60 for. I've more than got my money out of it, and the Pirate Booty expansion, so no regrets.

This! I really dont get it when people spent £40 on a game then leave the disc shiny side down.

Ya I hear that game has hundreds of hours of gameplay. But it's not necessary to have a game have a hundred hour campaign, take for instance Uncharted. Those games last around 10 hours or so in their campaign modes, but they are such high quality that you never get tired of replaying them again and again. I played through each Uncharted game countless amounts of times due to how amazing they are.

only long nintendo made games are eg mario zelda , maybe some third party depending on title eg saints row is worth it but ----call of duty or madden is not !
then theres these history channel games which for a fact is not even worth 30 lol
the games that are worth a full 60 are very hard to find now adays , ,on non-nintendo platforms that is , cause it seams most of them are 5 hour long shooting gallerys and once you played a few matches on line youve played it all ,
you just rince and repeat , unlike the numerous older games where it had some reason for you to explore the levels ----example-zombies ate my neighbors (you better stock up on what ever you find because the next level could very well be a BI5ch
vs call of duty where , you can just pick up the guys gun hide behind cover and shoot the next guy , and be done ,
very poor if you ask me lately games like that should be 30 bucks or lower

Most games don't appear to have very much work put into them, and I think that's what is causing this industry to falter. It won't likely get any better, as quality development is more expensive than the marketing to make a poor quality game appear to be a high quality game. But, that can only work for so long.
[QUOTE="GunSmith1_basic"]Most of the big games are copy paste jobs anyway. Idk about that. A lot of these companies are going under so there must be costs somewhere. People do expect refined visuals, orchestral music, and well regulated online experiences. For instance EA said that Dead Space 3 has to sell 5 million copies. I don't think there are many copy and paste jobs, but there are shared game engines now. That requires money too since they have to pay for the rights to use it. Not all devs can afford to make their own engines like Rockstar does. I would be curious as to what the budgets of super short games like Uncharted are too. I bet they're quite high.wow. It depends on the game and how long/re-playable it is.
For example I would consider games like Fallout out NV (after all of the patches), Skyrim, Farcry 3, Deus Ex Human Revolutions, The Witcher 2, Gears of War 3, and BF3 are all worth a $60 purchase because they are all either lengthy games or highly replayable.
I'm curious as to how much people actually spend on games. Me personally I rarely ever buy games on day 1, I always get them new (never used) but I wait until they drop down in price a bit, unless it's something really great like Uncharted, COD, or Skyrim (though I will probably skip MW4). Most games are not worth $60, they either lack the content or quality to justify the purchase, which is why I'm waiting to get Max Payne 3.
What do you think? I will check back on this thread later.

I only rent games like Uncharted, so the games i do buy are definatly worst 60$, games like Lost Odyssey, Fable 2-3, Witcher 2, Mass Effect 1, Dark SOuls etc i have played for 100+ hours each, 60$ is a steal
WRPG's and JRPG's you do,definitly, i jut look at it froma QUID/Hr Ratio Skyrim=200 Hours divided by 40 quid, 20 pence an hour, excellent value Halo 4=6 hours Divided by 40 quid, about 6.50 an hour, not good so games like that i blast through 2-3 times in about a week then trade them in for Max trade in towards a new game.[QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="ShadowMoses900"]

Yeah but games like Halo have multiplayer as well which helps counter balance the pricing range. Not to mention the different level difficulties as well and downloadable content such as the Spartan Ops.
i don't play online so i was talking from a personal perspective really but you are a absolutely right, a Halo fan will probably put in more hours online than i even put into Skyrim so i see your point.not for the 360, its a dead systemPressXtoJumpI find it ironic a dead system got more and higher quality exclusives than PS3 in 2012.

Hhhmm.. none of my XBox 360 games have ever scratched. I own over 150 XBox 360 games. I've used them on multiple XBox 360. Never scratched. My son's friend had his Halo 3 get scratched up, but that's probably because he had the system vertical and he bumped into it and it fell on the floor while it was playing. lol!! They couldn't even get the disc out of it. It got jammed. Game consoles aren't meant to be on vertical stands. It's not a PC. Sh!tty DVD's my @SS. Learn how to take care of your games. If they got scratched, it was your own fault.
Back on topic. Most games are not worth $60. There are only certain games that have large replay value that I would pay $60 for. Games like Forza 4, Skyrim, GTA V, Borderlands 2, NBA 2K12, Dark Souls & MW3. Games that have one play through in 8 hours or less aren't worth $60. Wii, MOVE and Kinect games aren't worth $60. For me, most games are worth no more then $40 or less. I picked up brand new copies of Dishonored and Sleeping Dogs on sale on Amazon for $25. That was worth the price. Got "The Walking Dead" for $10. You're better off waiting for the game's price to drop, unless it's something you must play on day one with your friends.
On PS3 because Sony is synonymous with world class gaming, integrity and value. Heil68You mean after releasing 5 exclusive flops in 2012. World class gaming indeed. lmao!! HP: Book of Spells didn't flop. Finally a MOVE game that didn't flop. Can't say the same for Sorcery though.
