I mean what the hell ASUS? What kind of idiot is supposed to be impressed by a robot owl that has nothing to do with your product? Who on the advertising team thought this was a good idea?

That does seem weird, especially for high end GPUS as at that level the people that buy know their numbers...for the most part :P

I'm hoping for a deal on cyber monday for the gtx 980 or 970 but I doubt it.

Im not sure what there is to feel insulted about. Its just a visual representation of tech. At least its somewhat creative.

I'd say the pc arena is worse. They are different though. Consoles are popular products and are more likely than not ms/sony are approached by these advertisers. On the other hand you directly have a marketing team designing a look for what the pc scene thinks is cool.

Gaming laptops are almost always the most poorly designed machines out there. Though I've seen that MSI one and not only is it not ugly but it is probably the most well designed windows based laptop i've seen, second to apple.

That isn't direct. These pc "scene" manufacturers are 100 percent responsible for the ads and look of the product line.

The ps4 and xbox one aren't exceptional, but I wouldn't call them ugly. The white xbox one actually looks rather nice. Same goes for the two controllers.

imo the ps4 stuff is rather classy for a games machine.

But now you're changing the subject to who the manufacturers are. This was about insulting marketing, and MS/SONY are allowing their products to be shilled.

Marketing aimed towards gamers tends to be pretty lame. I can easily ignore it though, and I'm certainly not insulted by it.

Oh, well get used to it man. I wasn't joking earlier in the thread. I was seriously looking at an Antec case a few years back (Antec900 I believe) with an advertisement telling me that I would "Pwn all noobs" because their case was just awesome like that.

PC gaming stuff is advertised with even more hyperbole than the console stuff, oddly enough. Everything is "SUPER EXTREME MAXIMUM DUAL BLADED QUAD FOREHEAD EPIC BLAST ROCKET BALLZ (insert a ridiculous amount of seemingly random numbers and letters)". It's actually good for a laugh sometimes.
