Do PC gamers have misconceptions of Consoles?

Most arguments start off with.. graphics..

"bu..bu..but the PC has better graphics than the consoles."

The problem is most console gamers don't give a damn.

The PS3 to PS4 has not been a "quantum leap" in terms of visuals (thus far), BUT there is still a noticeable upgrade. And we didn't have to spend $1000.

oh and lie about the cost of YOUR PC if you want.. but you know you guys spent a hell of a lot more than $400.

$1000+ for your PC rig.. say what?

Next they'll say..

Well gee if I counted all the indie titles, completely terrible titles, crossed over gens, and omitted games from the console lists... I'd have a hell of a lot more titles too. The bottom line is (without fanboy goggles) the PC is not measured in "gens" so why even debate this (of course it's going to have more software available).

Their infantile bickering amongst one another about which system has the better graphics and better exclusives clog forums and comments on websites alike, making gamers to the outside world appear utterly retarded. While there are some who create threads to call out people because they think everyone who happens to play games on PC think alike. Tell me. Do console gamers have misconceptions regarding PC and PC gamers?

Oh we care about graphics we just don't care about PC,is a different market and it will always be since the first console war started Atari vs the competition it has been about graphics and Windows wasn't here as a gaming platform dude,is the reason we don't care about PC,you can get a GPU every 3 months we still don't care and we argue console vs console which have equal terms and battle on a fair ground.

There are advantages from owning a PC there are advantages from owning a console both are separate market that will always co exist,when a generation of console is won you don't see sites saying PC won,no Nintendo wii won,the PS1 won the PS2 won,the Snes won the Nes won,and is the reason why many site give graphics award to console games like Uncharted 2 which won a ton of them,when on 2009 there were much stronger PC out there with better looking games.

No matter what Uncharted 2 was more impressive out of the PS3 than Crysis was on max setting out of a 2010 PC,because PC get new hardware all the time and gaming sites know that.

I just got a new PC a 6 cores AMD with a R9 270,still my main gaming platform are consoles.

I always love when people say PC doesn't have many games, then continue and put 3 systems libraries together in order to beat it

Honestly, I want my games to look good, but I don't care if its in 720p or 1080p. To say PC doesn't have any games is really silly because the majority of games are multiplats. I've bought 12 games for $30 in the last week on Steam, so I'd hardly say there isn't any games lol. Also, yes you can build a PC that can play games for $400. That isn't even a debate. The debate should be about how long it will last.

out of games you mention the only game that can be good will be bloodborne. if it come to PC i will try. if not than i dont care.

Yeah, you spent $400 for a barely noticeable upgrade. $400 could have bought you a new video card, a few more RAM chips and a cup of coffee that would have provided a "significant upgrade".

You also are basing your entire argument on PC gamers not also being console gamers. Most in fact do also game on consoles. Only fanboys (especially cows) are dumb enough to game on a single platform.

A different market that gets 99% of the best versions of all multiplats and the most high scoring exclusives (by a landslide) of each and every console generation? Yeah, totally different.

So when it comes to graphics they're separate, but when it comes to multiplat arguments they aren't?

When I made that argument I was told they aren't and the sales impact each other. You're separate markets argument won't wash on SWs, now more than ever since they have many of the same games between them. I used to argue that PC was never meant to be a competitor, rather it was meant to co-exist.

Also it's rubbish console gamers don't care, it's just easier to pretend you don't when there's nothing you can say. Plus there are the constant arguments on PS4 versus the PC from cows.

PS4 doesn't cost 400$. It costs 480 with taxes.

What is the magical console that will play all these exclusives. Let me help you with this

PS4 = 480$ (taxes included)

Xbox One = 480$ (if without Kinnect)

WiiU = 250$

Total: 1210$ plus games costs plus 100$ a year for online subscription

As an owner of all 3 systems I can safely say that gaming on a high end PC is unmatched by any console.

It simply is glorious, but it is only for wealthy gamers. Peasants will have to stick with "value gaming". Yeah ps4 for $400 is great value...kind of like a honda civic.

But it aint no ferrari.

I hope cows enjoy 30fps because you have a whole generation to look forward to it.

Consoles are cheap for a reason: Sony and MS get their money back because of the royalty fees (which means higher prices for games) and the subscription models.

Exactly. Consoles are deceptively expensive. At the same time, once you have built a PC that meets your criteria, gaming is very cheap and you save that way. Also prices of games drop much quicker.

I don't want to know how much I've invested in a given console over the years.

I also dislike the argument that you have to keep upgrading every year. I thought that one was gone. You only need to keep upgrading if you cheap out in the first place.

Plus, most of the master race also own a console or two for when they feel like slumming it.

Having a PC and a PS4 ... I ahve no misconception, I have experience..... I have backwards compatibilty of EVERYTHING except x360/ps3/3ds/wii u.... EVERYTHING.... I also have games that are peaking at 1 million users at peak, and the most diverse custimisable catalog of games all on one machine.... with the best media features to boot. and much cheaper games... and mods....

Meanwhile... my pointless PS4 is building up a crap free catalog of mediocre-level indie games...... with nothing but a remaster and a destiny multiplat coming out within the next few months.

I have no mis-conceptions... console gaming is an expensive limited experience.

So all those gigantic Killzone SF graphics vs Crysis 3 graphics threads started by consolites are about not giving a damn.

Of course to people that are ignorant, and wish to stay ignorant, PC will always require yearly 10.000 dollar upgrades or you'll have to turn your games on lowest settings at 800x600 :(

Console gamers do care about graphics, just not as much as a few PC gamers do. They have different standards, as long as a game looks nice and plays nice for the most part people are happy.

Then you get the PC elitists who like to play their games on "Ultra" settings at 16x MSAA to claim ownage over consoles, that's just sad. I'm not saying it does not look better but what you have to do in order to run the game like that is insane.

A lot of people also don't get that console users don't want massive boxes in their living room, so the spec has to match the thermal output to do that and that means it can't be a 250watt GPU and 125watt CPU.

Anyway , i'd go with "time periods" , u know in different periods different platforms are good to go and NOW PC is the best one , why? cuz PC has got so many games with superior graphics and stuff , and there's no special jaw dropping title on either of consoles .....BUT, say like in 2018 , the scenario might be different , we may have some hot system-seller exclusives on consoles worth buying...
