Destiny reminds me a little of...

Phantasy Star online from the dreamcast days. After playing the alpha I wanted to compare the way you play the story to being similar to Borderlands, but after playing the beta (game looks much better since the alpha fwiw) PSO seems to stick in my head. Any older gamers agree?

I remember this game, i actually finished it and liked it.

Spot on TC, PSO is the first thing that popped in my mind when I first entered the store hub and saw a bunch of other players running around in Destiny....I just got an instant Déjà Vu feeling....but this is a good thing, there really aren't many games like Destiny on consoles(hmm, not at all actually) right now, this game fills the need rather well.

It certainly does. It's one of the first things that my brother and I talked about once we started playing the Beta. From the The Tower hub, to the brightly colored sci-fi art style, and the obvious similarities between the Exo and CAST/Android races.

Halo is really about all Destiny reminds me of. It is Halo with added features, plain and simple.

Actually it reminds me of Hellgate London mixed in with Halo and Mass Effect.

It's like borderlands, hellgate, and gw1. I laugh when people call it an MMO just because it has an average sized hub, then they go venture into small instanced zones that hold a handful of players.

I can see how The Tower would give you the PSO vibe, the loot drops also remind me of PSO(U) but that's where the similarities end for me.

Speaking of PSO, Sega have royally fucked up not bringing PSO2 to the west, especially now that there's an English localized version in Korea, but no, we get nada.

This is painfully true. I love halo, but I was hoping for something different. I am still enjoying Destiny and will pick it up.
