Destiny Alpha Launch Thread. Sign up = Auto-In?

Please lets put the fanboy wars aside. This is a multiplatform game for PS3/4 and Xbox360/Xboxone. A game majority of us on here can enjoy it.

First off: Today is Peter Dinklage Birthday. We all know him from movies and game of thrones. He is will also be one of the main voice actor for this game.

Second off: Everyone who signed up for the Alpha will get into the Alpha. Open up your weekend.

I implore all of you to play the Alpha and Beta.

This is some basic information we know so far

The world is a massive place.

Each Major Location will be be bigger than the entire maps of Reach

These are huge open world maps with tons of exploration. You can do many of these worlds CO-OP. Unfortunately, do to the large open world map split screen co-op will not be possible.

There are three classes

Warlock

Hunter

Titan

Each class will all have different special abilities (L-trigger and R-Trigger at the same time).

Awesome ability will include a golden gun (similar to Golden Eye) which will be a hard to aim pistol that one shots

Other things include a nova type bomb. A ground slam and many more.

There are also three races to pick from

Human

Awoken

Exo

There is no restrictions on what weapons and the majority of armor your class/race can pick from. Classes will have one unique gear piece to each of them.

There is also over 6 factions in the game.

Traditional Story Mode

Open World mode

Co-Op Open World

Dungeons

Raids

and over 6 different multiplayer modes.

This will Bungie's Biggest Game yet. More man hours, more money, and the largest employees hired for a bungie game yet.

How do you know everyone who signed up for the alpha will get in? I signed up but no email as of yet.

A buddy of mine played it at E3 and she convinced me its not as boring as it looks in videos. I trust her opinion more than I trust my own eyes at this point going off what I have seen this is going to suck but I shall give it a shot.

Awesome. Now the only question is whether or not I need PS + to play it?

I want this game to suck me in and force me to basement dwell for several weeks. Unfortunately, I have slight hang ups if the game will be any good.

I am just curious how much money Sony threw at Bungie to get the Alpha access for PS4 and Beta access for PS4/PS3 before X1/360. MS must have really pissed off Bungie at some point.

Awww. I don't like playing co-op online. I was looking forward to playing splitscreen with my bro, but oh well. Still excited to play this!

Personally I don't care at all about Destiny but I never cared about Halo or any of that stuff either...

I think it's quite bizarre how so many have turned against Bungie and I believe it really is because they're not MS exclusive anymore.

Destiny looks great for what it is, it's just not for me..

I just got ACL reconstruction surgery done few days ago thank God this is coming out now I've been stuck in bedrest/my basement for a few days can't even move good at all

If I get alpha or beta access that will really help me decide whether or not a Xbone is something I should get this year.

the E3 trailer has convinced me that this may be something i can enjoy,but why no PC version!

Ok TC, I pre-ordered it off of PSN just now, and got an option to remotely add it to my download queue! (dunno if that download queue means the beta, or just a DRM file to unlock the game once it gets released)

Anyway, will will hopefully hookup my PS4 later-on to see if I have anything in my download queue.

EDIT: nop, it turned out that download queue is just a settings to auto-download the game when it's available.

All I got is a timer that says 88 days: 5 hours. etc..

So if you're thinking to pre-order the game in order to get into the beta, don't. It seems too late now.

Got mine. Its taking forever to download.

So it looks like at 12am everyone will be able to download it on ps4 for a limited time just like what they've done with Titanflop. Is it eastern time? I have no idea so it'll be in 20 minutes or 3h: 20minutes. Anyways im waiting to get in for sure!

So I played a little PvE and a PvP match. (I don't remember the real names)

I know Bungie is calling this an "alpha" but that frame rate is awful. Is it going to be 30fps on PS4? I would say the alpha is far from 30. Probably more like 20. Dips into the 10's.

The art style is nice. I really like the color contrast. Textures look good for the most part.

As a shooter I'm not sure yet. Maybe Titanfall has messed me up but this game feels really slow. Even slower and more flighty than Halo.

The RPG and MMO elements seem like they will be a lot of fun. I have trouble getting into MMO's because pointing and clicking at enemies doesn't excite me. This game seems like it could bring some of the good parts from both worlds.

I need to play a lot more to make a real judgement but I thought I would share some quick thoughts.

really? wth were they doing since 09? The game doesn't even look that amazing (lighting was much much better in last year's E3), current lighting looks,,,, video gamish, nothing realistic.

This game is NEAT. It really feels like a full fledged combination of an open MMORPG with a competitive multiplayer component(like you would find in a standalone shooter). It's not a half assed attempt at either and the integration between the two, and ease of coop is really impressive. I will say however the first mission was pretty cool, but since then it seems like a lot of fetch quest to collect random items. I hope the game has a lot funner mission design then that. Also the graphics suck it looks like a ps3 game

I signed up the day it was announced, and I just checked my email to find I recieved the voucher code 7 hours ago.

Every time I try to redeem it it says "Error Occured".

Meh, I preordered it for the beta a few weeks ago anyways.

Welp...I downloaded the alpha and I made my character and everything. Get to the world and I can only play for about 4-5 minutes before I lose my connect to the Destiny servers. This has happened every single time I play. Tried it about 7 times. What a waste of time.

Is sign up over? Can you still get in?

I'm in the alpha and it's f'ing awesome. I've maxed out my character for the beta. There is so much stuff to do, a lot of things to level up and a lot of items and weapons to collect. zPlaying this game with your friends is a blast. 10/10 would play again. This game is going to be epic guys, unlike Titanflop, this is definitely gonna be GOTY.

Got my alpha during the night. Will install today after work.

Enjoying what I've played so far. Feels solid. There are framerate drops but Alpha is Alpha, so I won't hold that against it at the moment.

I got my via email confirmation, gives you a redeem code, i left it to download overnight as the servers are obviously probably maxed out. Wonder how many were able to get access? I'm stuck at work for now but will be checking it out when I get home later this afternoon.
