One thing Dead Space 1 totally succeeded at was telling its story by having it happen AROUND you while you the player are still in control. Though I really have nothing against cutscenes, it's just that unless they really gage your interest, there is always the risk of a loss of immersion. Whereas with games like Dead Space, you still have control of the player as key events in the game take place, though the way he moves and acts relative to what the player inputs is more limited at times (yet still appropriate in the context of what's happening in the narrative). I'm kind of surprised more games this gen haven't caught on to this.
