Meh, comes out after Bloodborne, which will (likely) steal it's thunder.
Also, lol at the porn suicide post.
More like regular day in the life of SNIPER (or whomever it really is). He's been "suiciding" for days now.
@dommeus: They practically took out any sense of exploration that a 3D Metroidvania like Dark Souls had. Of course the common comparison is that it feels more like a mix of Dark and Demons' Souls with Majula and all, but at least Demons' levels mostly looped back around in an interesting fashion, whereas DS2 used shortcuts quite poorly.
It's the most technically sound and accessible Souls yet but between the less creative bosses, way too easy health system, and hugely maligned Soul Memory system it had its share of disappointments.
Err...did anyone else see the plethora of black dicks that someone called 'Hankypany2' posted as a reply to these comments? They just appeared in an email notification...whilst I was at work...
@ten_pints: phantom hits, cheap deaths, long load times, bad controls, bad story, terrible bosses, terrible level structure.
And how does that differ from the previous installments?
phantom hits weren't nearly as prevalent in the originals, bosses were overwhelmingly better, the story was more intriguing and most importantly the level design was much more intelligent. What are you trolling or just stupid?

Wrong. DS2 had better level design. The levels are more though out and there are far more surprises. Nevermind that instead of being in a local area, like the first game, you are traveling a distance, so there would be less shortcuts. There are no dreadful levels like Lost Izaltih in DS2.
DS2 had better game balance, a better stat system, better enemy design, while having no bosses that match the first game's best, they do not have a bad boss that matches the first game's worst (no bed of Chaos), better DLC, and better PvP.
And DS2 has a far better, I mean a far better, New Game Plus.

better level design? ok stopped reading,
This news has definitely made my day. The only thing better would be to learn than our saved game data will be able to be transferred over. Regardless, I'm stoked that the updated content will be available to those playing on last gen consoles for no charge as well! Good shit all the way around. I have not yet downloaded the DLC content that's currently available, so I will be more than happy to re-purchase this for PS4!
Hell yes, although I'll probably still be playing Bloodborne when this hits aiming for that platinum. Definitely getting this though.
Actually here's some more content
All 3 DLC packs included in the game (Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King, Crown of the Ivory King).
Additional NPCs added for an enhanced story experience.
Parameter adjustments for improved game balance.
Augmented item descriptions.
Improved online matchmaking functionality.
Xbox One, PS4, and DirectX 11 versions of the game will include the following features (in addition to those listed above):
Additional upgrades to graphics, sound, performance.
Increase in maximum online players in single session (6 total).
That last one is cool. Might convince me to join, along with 60 FPS and Remote Play.
I suppose they will be patching that stuff in to the PC version? ... Oh, wait. Of course not. We'll probably have to pay full price or something lol.
Great news because I'm a big fan of DS1, and it was painful skipping this one on last gen after hopping on the new gen. However, I must say, Lords of the Fallen is quite the game, it lacks the online component that I loved from DS1, but otherwise it is amazing imo though I'm far from done with it....I'm just glad it is avaialble now until DS2 comes out.
@Animal-Mother: looking forward to a bit more from this game. may have to wait and get back to it after the update.
@foxhound_fox
"Hey remember those lighting effects we stripped out of the game before launch that could easily have ran on PC? Well now you can have them back!!! If you buy another version of the game..."
**** that shit.
"improvements will also be available to existing Dark Souls 2 owners via a free update"
people love to hate some shit because they can't read
@mems_1224: you sound like a broken record.
Yeah he does. Does he enjoy anything
i enjoy good games
Stop lying.
That's cool. I would think it'd run at 60fps on the new gen of consoles considering even a toaster could hit 60fps on it on PC.
@mr-powers:
Why was Dark Souls 2 so disappointing?
Worst map design of the series. recycled enemies and bosses, messy mechanics (they were supposed to fix the covenants, it's actually just as jumbled), soul memory is jacked, balance was off (takes a year to address that with a remake).
There were some pluses like a wider variety of weapons. They also added some things from both Dark and Demon's. It's still a decent Souls game but not great. After release people figured out that a lot of key people who worked on Demon and Dark 1 were working on Bloodborne instead of Dark 2 and everything kinda made sense.
Dark 2 feels like fans came together to make it and took what they liked from both Souls games while trying to add their own mechanics, and there was no leadership so it came out messy.
I still haven't finished Demon's Souls, nor opened my copy of Dark Souls 1
Get on Demon's Souls so I can invade and annoy you :)
By "improved balance" I think they mean they are just to tip the stats even more to the enemies' favour.
Hopefully it means more human effigy drops earlier in the game, because it is entirely possible to end up completely screwed.

So whats so bad about DS2's level design? People who complain really don't explain.
Whats better about DS2's level design. More varieties of traps, smarter enemy encounter design, better ambushes, proper difficulty curve, less annoying elements. The only thing DS1 does better is world connectedness. And the level design is changed on NG+, unlike the first game..

Wrong.
DS2 is far better balanced than its processor and remember, DS1 was a mess of balance issues at launch. DS2 is much better in this regard, Nevermind they finally figured out how a faith character should play. Recycled enemies...not really.
Once again, the only thing the first game does better is boss battles, but DS2 lacks the worst of DS1's boss battles.
And for whining about soul memory....this will teach you not to lose your souls.
@X_CAPCOM_X
Like "Startover with a new Character" Screwed ?
Something of the sort. You could still progress, but it would just be a lot harder.
cant wait to play on PS4. why is PC even have dark souls? mouse controls suck for them. you need precise controller especially for these types of games.
I use a controller when I play this on PC

There's really no major reason to be human in Dark Souls 2 once you get a Ring of Binding, 75% max health isn't a big deal. Later in the game you can be un-hallowed for free anyway.

That's like saying the same for cling ring in Demon's Souls; being in soul form drastically changes your strategy (especially if you have black character tendency).
I was just bringing that up for those newer to the series
@princeofshapeir: where can you get human form for free later in the game? Besides if you are a sinner or wrath (100 sins or so) you can drop down to 5% health
There's a bell in Shrine of Amana that you can interact with that'll reverse your hollowing for free

DS2 level design is garbage. There is no coherent world, it is just a bunch of random linear levels stitched together with elevators. You literally take an elevator UP from the TOP of a poison windmill to the BOTTOM of a sunken lava castle. WTF?
DS2 does have better balance, although I don't much care for Soul Memory. And the replay-ability is almost limitless.

Yes, you go up to a sunken castle, because its in a volcanic crater, so you go up a mountain. Conceptually, its not flawed. the problem is the proportions, areas look farther than they really are, like you see in Majula.
Also this isn't level deign, its world design. The actual levels play better than the first game.

disagree, in the first game the levels were designed in such a way that nearly every single area had unique environments. A kind of Egyptian themed temple with snakemen, a medieval castle with giant knights, a graveyard that leads to undead crypts, a poisonous underworld, a firey demonic realm and it was all stitched together to make it seem believable and real and you go from one place to another like wow... this is where that door goes to.
To top it off each zone had a boss that was incredibly climactic that suited the theme of the environment leading up to it. DS2 is mostly bland and generic and the bosses are insanely bad, the levels are patched together half heartedly. It's not all bad, but mostly bad. It replaces intrigue, horror and fear with frustration and constant bombardment from multiple enemies. The iron keep was infuriating. DS2 crossed the line from challenging and fun to downright frustrating stupid and annoying
