According to Eurogamer, the game is a fugly...blurry mess and that's on top of the bugs and bad voice acting.

I've read it looks and play well on X1X but yeah, it's probably really tough on the base X1 and PS4.

That sucks. I'm actually surprised how well my 2080 is handling the game. Getting a 90% locked 60 with "balanced" DLSS and shadows at high, and other settings at medium. Looks really good.

Where did you read that? Most games like this are always targeting PC first, consoles second. Plus, haven't you noticed the lack of console footage compared to the PC?

Same here. The game defaults to RTX Ultra for me. The 2080ti handles it well with DLSS with frame rates from 50-100 on a WQHD display. Perfect range to take advantage of G-Sync and the result feels smooth even with such a variable frame rate.

DLSS does cause a few graphical glitches here and there, but it runs at about half that frame rate with it turned off.

Still lots of bugs overall, but nothing game-breaking. Lots of animation bugs. I can see why they kept delaying it. They probably should have delayed it into next year. Animation is hard.

@louixiii: In fairness, this isn't a console problem. I'm reading and hearing from everyone that has it the PC version is also a buggy mess.

Not smart cdpr. Reputation tarnished now. Should have pushed another month or two.

From what I read the controls for this are pretty bad on PC clearly designed for console.

For another thing, they broke release promises several times - delays? no big deal on its own. Don't ship an unfinished product (but see next point...). BUT the issue is they very clearly and directly stated, even in response to people asking them if it was safe to take time off work to play, that those customers could go for it. They simply overplayed that hand when they didn't need to. They didn't need to make those promises and could have been up front about it.

Finally, they ultimately released it half baked to revs and 3/4 baked to customers.

Not well handled - they should have been more up front and held off until it was truly ready (as they have touted being their philosophy...). This shit would have sold the same amount in Feb or March when truly polished up to a shine.

True. But the Witcher 1 was clearly made for PC, with it orientating towards console while CD Projekt RED was making proclamations about the greatness of pc gaming.

Witcher 3 especially was designed with console in mind, pc controls were a mess.

@xantufrog: Absolutely. Releasing early in this unpolished state did not win them any additional customers, but it certainly will cause the people who were already sold on CDPR titles to take pause now when considering buying their games.

Ya know, PC gamers often say that if you can't deliver a good port, you shouldn't have even bothered.

I think console gamers should adopt the same attitude here; if CD Projekt Red can't deliver a good port to base XB1/PS4, they shouldn't have even bothered. Make it next-gen only and focus on that instead.

It seems like the PS4 and Xbox One version are meant to be played on their new gen counterparts.

The base PS5 and Xbox Series version should be way better, but I do not expect them to be above 30fps.

@uninspiredcup: see, I think TW2 had worse PC controls than TW3. TW2 realllllllyyyy felt like it was meant for use with a 360 controller. TW3 worked the same way in broad strokes, but they tweaked the responsiveness and interface so that it didn't feel so weird with M&K. I felt like I was trying to drive a boat on land at times in TW2. Really overrated game *shots fired*

I was expecting way worse TBH. I wanted to hold out for my last couple of parts to come in, but i'll be replaying this regardless.

Can't say I'm surprised by this. Try running Cyberpunk on a PC with Bobcat CPU cores, slow DDR3, and a GPU 30% slower than a 7850. Good luck with that. Good thing I built a beefy PC recently😎

Likely to not happen but since Halo: Infinite, has been delayed a full year, I would love to hear they scrapped plans to bring it to base X1. Me thinks that would make huge improvements to the game much easier/possible.

Yikes! I like to buy my games on physical formats and these day one patches really grind my gears, even more so when you’re basically downloading the whole game size of a patch and it’s still a buggy mess.

Not release two bad versions of a game they were struggling to get to work. All they got was more delays, more crunch, and more criticism.

They can delay those versions. If someone wants to play the game on weaker hardware like they can on PC, I don't see the problem.

This game takes forever to install on the PS5 via disc. On the plus side by the time it does install the bugs will probably be fixed.

Imagine how much better the PC version would have been if all their wasted efforts optimizing for these old crappy consoles had been spent on optimizing the PC version instead.

And let's not forget that they made their programmers crunch until the game was ready. I'm a strong believer in treating people the way I like to be treated but making guys crunch for almost two months is not humane. It's awful. That's the kind of stuff I will not support.
