Cuphead is brilliant - GOTY contender, anyone?

I bought the game on PC. It's got a great art style that's for sure. They weren't lying when they said the game was difficult. I have already experienced that "just one more time" phenomena when you gotta attempt an obstacle in the game over and over.

It is hilarious the amount of Sony fanboys saying NO WAY this is not GOTY and then admitting they have never played the game. All Sony fans care about is that Microsoft does not get it no matter what. It has nothing to do with the games but their hate for Xbox. They are not even saying Playstation games are better but this game sucks and they admit they never played it. They just know it is a Xbox exclusive and so they hate it. Like I have said before most Sony fans are not gamers at all but only company fanboys.

It has an awesome artstyle but that alone doesnt make it GOTY contender. Gameplay looks good but nothing that it does makes it stand out from many other 2D platformer/shooters hybrids like Megaman, Contra or Metal Slug

So I guess you'll wait for the Stupid PS4/PS5 version.

Game of the year in every territory except story. But then again it is a very good game. The only problem is M to the A to the R to the I to the O is coming out and he's coming back to claim the iron throne of gaming. So hats off to cuphead, but when it comes to the pimp plumber almost everyone takes a back seat.

lol ^^ Maybe people say it has no chance to get a GotY because it sits at an 8 here on GS and a MC of 86 in a year where we had more than one 10, Botw sitting at a MC of 97 and Original Sin 2 on 95? Sorry, the game might be good, but it has NO CHANCE in 2017. It probably doesn't even get a "best 2D platformer" award in a year with Sonic Mania which got a 9. Get over it, the game has no chance of a GotY at all.

It's one of my favorite games this year, but I won't kid myself thinking it will win GOTY.

The music, the art style, and gameplay just make it a joy to play. People say it brings nothing new compared to Mega Man or Contra, so what? It definitely isn't a step backwards, and I can only play the old games for so long (saying this as someone with a contra video linked in my signature).

Just wish there were more run and gun levels and that the run and guns were a bit longer.

I'd suggest it as a contender, if it wasn't for the damn "Run & Gun" sections. Those parts ruined an otherwise great experience.

That's quite plausible. The only competition it has in that category is PUBG. The Xbox GOTY might come down to Cuphead or PUBG.

I just got to World 2 and this game has been already started to get frustrating for me. Maybe there's a power-up i'm missing that makes stuff easier or is really effective but damn...

Woah. Angry Joe just gave this game a 10/10 with a badass seal of approval. Cool.

I still have one boss left in world 2 before I move on to world 3. I’ve died over 200 times but I’m still having a lot of fun with this game. I must beat this game.

This. 4k resolution for cuphead? Really?

I'm really liking it, having a lot of fun, but doubt it deserves a GOTY nomination, lots of good stuff this year, but it definitely deserves recognition for its exceptional design.

@DJ-Lafleur: Nope, it's just an old school hard fvckin game. I love it.

I love the visuals and the whole 1930's Steamboat Willie look and it's reviewing well but I doubt it gets GOTY. There were just too many heavy hitters in 2017. HZD P5 BOTW DOS2 Destiny 2 Yakuza 0/Kiwami PUBG Berseria Ys VIII Tekken 7 Destiny 2 Forza 7 and Mario Odyssey is dropping this year too.

I wasn't sure if I'll enjoy playing Cuphead but after watching various gameplays, including watching Angry Joe review Cuphead, (which I'm surprise cause I didn't think he would review such a game) he was really into it and show me what I needed to know, I already went and buy Cuphead on PC.

@davillain-: yeah I really wasn’t expecting him to review this game either and am a bit surprised that he enjoyed it that much. I’m really enjoying it myself because it just looks and sounds very different and that’s kind of cool right now. Anyway I hope you enjoy it too.
