Core i7 a minimum for The Evil Within

So... Here are the minimum system reqs:

OS: windows 7/8.1

GPU: GTX 460 or an equivalent 1 GB VRAM card

CPU: i7 or an equivalent 4+ core processor

RAM: 4 GB

HDD: 50 GB

As the team noted, with this setup PC gamers won’t be experiencing the game at 1080p and they’ll likely need to turn off some features, but they will still be able to have a great experience with the game.

Okay, some asked for recommended reqs. Here they are. As you'll notice, they don't actually differ much from minimum ones (and vice-versa).

64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
i7 with four-plus cores
4 GB RAM
50 GB of hard drive space (50 GB needed for install, but game will actually only take up around 41 GB of hard drive space, Bethesda says)
GeForce GTX 670 or equivalent with 4 GB of VRAM
High-speed internet connection
Steam account

If anything it is the 460GTX the thing that will hold the game back rather than the i7.

You got it wrong that set up will not give you 1080p because of the GPU not the CPU.

We are still talking about the fact they listed i7 as a minimum.

Yeah, and Wolfenstein also recommended it, even though it could run on toasters. An i7 doesn't necessarily mean a 4770k or something; it could very well be the first gen i7s.

Ah yes, the effort of next gen requirements to provide an illusion of evolution in graphical and mechanical evolution. Nah man, it doesn't actually require an i7. If it really does, boycott the **** out of it boys.

well thats strange.. i guess i will just have to cancel my preorder and go with the PS4 version. im way above the minimum on everything except i have an i5 2500k.. seems like its gonna be a garbage port

I can only wonder what they are doing to justify the requirements. All of these have so far turned out to be false or artificial.

PC requirements are always BS.

It says "i7 or an equivalent 4+ core processor". In other words, a quad-core CPU in general, not just the i7 specifically. Also, i5 processors today are better than early i7 processors.

Either way, like tormentos said, it's the GPU that counts far more than the CPU. If you have anything less than a GTX 460, then that will hold you back. The lack of an i7 isn't a deal-breaker.

Exactly. Probably they mean i7 920 ( considering the gpu recommendation is also a rather modest gtx460 ) a freaking 5year old cpu and everyone on the internet went mad

That 5 year old CPU still rips a lot of the newer AMD cpus.

And the console CPUs are many times weaker.

I'd say even an old Phenom II x4 or Athlon II x4 would be fine for this game.

This games port team is actively trying to make me hate it.

That idtech engine is trash.It looks and plays like shit.

I can't wait to see what doom 4 is working with, it has to be worlds better than ID's last shitty engine offering.

also oldest cheap i7s are pretty shit compared to new i5s if an ultra low tier i7 can play this game its not that much
