Sales wise the steam box is going to be a major flop. People are buying laptops and tablets these days not desktop computers.

There's a split between gaming desktop PC ad non-gaming desktop PCs.

The first sentence in that article confirms what I just said. I am sure the growth is in low end games not games that require overpriced video cards. The article states the growth is due to an increase in China...

Good luck to Steam because no one is buying desktops anymore.

"The traditional desktop is no longer the gaming platform of choice as we are seeing more and more laptops with powerful GPUs and high end audio systems," he added.

Although casual PC users may be switching to tablets and other mobile devices, hard-core gamers appear to be sticking around—and prepared to spend. According to JPR Senior Gaming Analyst Ted Pollack, the upcoming Arma 3 will inspire $800 million in spending on PC gaming hardware. Interestingly, Pollack contends that PC games are putting additional strain on the CPU, encouraging users to upgrade more than just their graphics card.

If you head on over to Newegg, you can see that only 4 out of 17 models of the R9 280X are available for sale, the rest are completely sold out. In addition to that, only 2 of the 16 models of the R9 290X are available for sale as well. The story is the same with the R9 290 as well, with only two of the 7 models of the card available for sale.

so you are a salesman?

Microsoft?? LOL I guess you missed my statement on functionality (e.g. epic Windows Phone 6 failure) vs usability+functionality (e.g. iPhone) i.e. you can't read that I'm against MS for treating the PC as second rated platform.

From http://blogs.windows.com/windows/b/appbuilder/archive/2013/10/14/raising-the-bar-with-direct3d.aspx

1. XBox One has DirectX 11.X superset API while Windows PC has gimped/slower/second rated DirectX11.2 version. AMD can't wait for MS to fix this issue, hence Mantle.

2. Microsoft didn't address PC's gesture motion control issues for HiFi/living room use. From https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7psqRc3OA2I&list=PLx15eYqzJifemFQ6J_XQMokQxJO1Ivimm&feature=player_detailpage AMD and 3rd party software partners attempts to fill Microsoft's void in PC's gesture motion controls. Valve attempts to fix this issue with SteamOS and Steam client's big picture mode.

4. Intel, AMD and NVIDIA supports Valve's Steam OS i.e. the 3 amigos of PC hardware basically sent a message to MS to get it's act together.

Intel + AMD + NVIDIA wants "3DO 2.0" and MS is not filling this void i.e. conflict with MS's Xbox business.

ST60 is too low end for me.

I have a samsung PNF8500

That's not really "the best TV for your money of 2013" though. The ST60 is. Universally so.

But I agree F8500 is a better all-round choice , primarily due to its higher brightness capability with IQ on par with a VT60.

I have a nagging suspicion that this is GioVela/m3boarder/maninflames having a conversation with himself.

The Steam Box is a hybrid PC-console with a Linux OS. Stay away. Either get a PS4 or cutting-edge PC.
