As expected. The AoE remasters sold gangbusters, no reason why C&C couldn't have the same success, if they do a good job.
Joseph Kucan is bloody ageless. Maybe it's magic, maybe it's Tiberium.
Gonna let the user reviews flow a bit... ...then amend my sig.
That’s cool. I’ve played Tiberian Sun + Firestorm, Red Alert 2 + Yuri’s Revenge, and Red Alert 3 and really enjoyed those games. Still have them too and this kind of makes me want to go back and play them again.
Really wish EA would make another one. Preferably C&C Generals 2.
The last attempt didn't look half bad.
But EA is one of those companies that doesn't seem willing to commit to a PC exclusive.
I'd rather they make a C&C4.
And no, C&C4 has never, ever existed, ever. Please be aware that I am currently holding a fork, and I have an irresistible compulsion to insert something sharp and pointy into the eye of anyone who disagrees with the statement in my last sentence.

I'm someone who really liked C&C3 and I think the Scrin was a nice addition for a third faction.
I would replay those games again, if it weren't for the fact that they are locked at 30fps.
Oooooooohhhh you mean that C&C4
Which, as you know to be factually, positively true, does not exist yet.
Remember. Fork. Eye.
The thing is most probably won't be playing it until next week or so.
why? It's Friday - perfect time to fire it up
I just started playing Outerworlds and I want to jump into C&C after that for a marathon. I'm pretty sure if I start C&C I won't be able to stop for anything else.
One of those games I really loved but don't want to dive back into in case the magic is gone, might be best to keep the memory.
Man, I've been playing OpenRA and that kinda ruined the charm for me, since it's free and all. Might pick this up later down the line.
Never played any of them, but the series sure has a lot of fans. I don't know how stupid EA must be to not take advantage (in a good way, not just drilling their fans) of this IP.
Has anyone tested to see if it works on Windows 7?
It says it requires Windows 8.1/10.
I have win 10 installed on another partition but i hate it so much and haven't even run it for over a year, probably flooded with bloated updates which I don't want.... and don't want to waste hours updating the trash OS for a 25+ year old game that could run on DOS.
Seems like it only needs dx11 so it should run in windows 7 unless they have purposely put in a lock to prevent it?
* edit- I skimmed through some steam reviews, one person said it does work in windows 7, but I'll have to see more to confirm that.
Try window 10 LTSC, I'm installing next week for a go.

I never heard of it, but just looked into it... looks like worth trying out. Trimmed down Windows 10 with no bloat spyware and ability to disable the NSA spying malware Microsoft has in it. Definitely looks like something I must look into much deeper.
Thanks a lot for telling me this, at some point it may be impossible to even use windows 7 when I upgrade my hardware more, this may be my only other choice.
You will only find it ebay, pirated of course. Unless you are will to shell out the money for it officially, although you may even need other criteria to fulfill. Obviously it was made of sensitive stuff, not us average consumer. But it sworn by a load of gamers and highly recommended.
I played a bunch of this when the decade edition for C&C came out. But a remaster had me all ears. Played a little bit of it and enjoyed every second.
You know, I'm generally not a fan of remasters (prefer remakes), but this is how you do it right.
Not only a visual overhaul, but all kinds of extra stuff, too. Not just a cash-in, a new-game price re-master of a game you can buy for 5 bucks...this is a tribute to the fans for a bargain deal.
Well done EA, you're almost back to "piece of shit status" (an upgrade from "scumbag of the industry"). Although who are we kidding, this is all Petroglyph. They probably worked on this as a passion project, saw the potential, and were like "Hey EA, want to make fans happy and make some money?" lol
My favorite C&C game. The laser towers and ion cannon were just plain cool.
Besides,
I prefer simple 2D graphics for these type of games instead of fancy isometric 3D. Yeah, I am old-fashioned.
I like the old school stuff too, looks almost hand drawn (could be for all I know). I'm a big fan of the "voxel" tech of later C&C games (i.e. Tiberian Sun), also.

Works fine on windows 7. Haven't had a single issue playing single or multi so far.
@mrbojangles25: I also liked the follow-up, Red Alert, though its gameplay was nowhere near as balanced as the original. The Soviets' weapons were far superior, especially their tanks. It just seemed unfair. That was until the Allies got their destroyers (or whatever those big gunboats were called), which could do extreme damage at extreme range.
@hardwenzen: I bet this is testing the waters for investment in a new installment
Well, if that's the case then it will be really interesting to see how they approach a new entry. It will definitely end up causing controversy in one side of the aisle or another in this day and age. If you know what I mean. I think Generals 2 would be a much safer bet to workaround it.

I bet plenty of people would enjoy either/or but you may be right.
I'm interested, but it's a bit pricey imo. £17.99 is a bit much for a remaster of an ancient game imo. I'll get it when it's about £10.
Blast from the past.
Damn, I remember working at Software Etc. when this released. Best memory of it was destroying the White House with some massive space laser or something out of a selection of targets for the ending. I could really use that right now. May buy.
Bought it. Liking it so far. I have some issues, but I think it's just 'cause OpenRA didn't care for nostalgia.
Controls aren't really that great in the remaster compared to OpenRA but I am still having fun.
I really hope this remastered lead to EA to reboot CnC in next gen graphics. we were getting generals 2 but sadly it become F2P MP games.
we barely have RTS games anymore.
Having only played generals and Red alert 2. this is first time i actually played original CnC and its good opportunity to remastered for one who missed it.
really enjoying it.
@ghosts4ever: I'm looking forward to Age of Empires and Iron Harvest, both look excellent.
But yeah, this succes should renew EA's interest in a new command and conquer game.
Put please for the love of God don't make it F2P.
Why would you even put that in the universe...

Just like in a scene from the 1996 film Independence Day?
