Poll Can we all agree the Kinect is dead? (105 votes)
Back when it was originally announced as Project Natal in 2009, Kinect seemed revolutionary, so much more than motion controls, an all new way of augmented reality enhanced video games. When it came out, it was far less than that, but a lot of us held out in hope that the new and improved Kinect that came with the Xbox 360 successor would fix the issues of the original model.
Theoretically, it did- it just never got the chance to get off the ground. Over time, it has been icnreasingly de-emphasized. Today, it is used in no upcoming game, first or third party. Xbox One UI navigation is perfectly possible and even preferable to using the Kinect. What little use it has at this point is as a glorified microphone- which I cannot understand why Microsoft won't just let us use headset microphones for, like Sony does on PS4.
My question- is the saga of Kinect at an end? Can we say that it is well and truly dead?
