Good! Maybe now the U.S. can stop spending taxpayer money on these people. Let the private sector do it.

thats a really heartless thing to say.

Why? I pay almost 50% in taxes. Is it so wrong to want to it be used in my own country for people who also need it? I'd rather it go to the thousands who are dying ever year here because they cannot afford health care.

the money would have much better use in haiti. i dont belive in all this "my country" BS. we are all humans and they need the money more.

[QUOTE="CannedWorms"]

[QUOTE="toast_burner"] i dont see whats wrong with what popcap is doingtoast_burner

I think they can still make money from the sales. Also, not many people is going to buy the game on PopCap's website as it is 3x cheaper on Steam. People would be better off donating money to a charity as they are SURE they're money is DEFINATELY going to provide aid and not boost PopCap's image in the process. If they had cared about the Haiti then they would have donated the money from their Steam and iPhone games, their main source of income. Very cheap and dirty tactics.

they cant donate the money from the stream versions because steam gets some of that money as well.

On the popcap website they get all the money so they can give all the money away if they want

Even if it isall a publicity stunt, who cares? its going to a good cause

My point is why not just give that money to a cause that commits to helping the people of Haiti rather than a company who makes a fortune from selling casual games? Yes it's going to a good cause I know that but it's shady and I'm sure people will be wondering where they money has gone, how much of it etc.

It is funny how cynical some are when they hear of others giving. I admit I did not know about what Popcap was doing till this thread but I tip my hat to them also. To the people that as soon as they hear of some giving act all they see is some selfish act behind it. To that I shake my head in disgust. Some are just to eager to hate.rybe1025
That's rich coming from someone who is in almost every thread trying to criticize anything. I have an opinion and I stick by that, it's much better than believing companies do things for the good of their heart. "Oh looks there's enviromental problems, lets waste our much needed money because we want to save the earth"....

OK whatever but if I want to make donations to a cause then I will be doing it the proper way. Not giving a **** company like PopCap worth 10x more than the game is worth. Very nice of Bungie though to give away money at their expense and not at the consumers expense:).

It looks like they are donating 100% of the proceeds of one of their shirts the American red cross also. I might as well get one for me and my wife. I was going to donate anyway (now i get a free t-Shirt AND donate).

Oh that's just so sweetness and I mean it ...though... put up your blood & money and feel the goodness !!

Stop offering up others and they're earnings, saying and acting as though you gave it - that's simply too easy and inhuman to offer up others confiscated treasure and then claim, I'm so sweet..:?

Feel more then Free to give out of your pocket, more then you can give.. Ya got My props if ya do so...

Ye old PM.. Lady M.T. and her saying: Socialism is just great untill other peoples money runs out... yeah..:o

All dat said, Haiti needs help and we ( U.S. ), like always, are there - be proud !! :)

This is true.People like to pretend that this country is an Elysium and everything is all unicorns and rainbows.Heck there are some parts of Chicago that look like London in WWII.How can we expect to help other nations if our country is just as bad in some places?

not to go all into this discussion, but thats the USA's own problem, wasting so much money on a war that wasent needed in the first place.

however haiti cant do anything about the situation they are in, and they diserve ouer help.

if america wants to play world police, then they should do it now and help the ones that need help

While I agree is is just pure awesome people want to help Haiti and that is great. It is not even close to what it is like in Chicago. Chicago as a whole is not a bad place but there is a really problem area in the city. Also that is just one problem area in just one city that is in just one city in a one of the most prosperous coutries in the entire world. Haiti though is a pure 3rd world area. Haiti has EXTREME poor education, violence out the ying yang and of course lack of food.

here is some fun facts of Haiti or rather sad facts.

78% of population lives off $2 a day

53 per cent (those age 15 and over who can read and write) ( even worse it does not say how many of those are just the very basic reading and writing )

Unemployment: Said to be more than 50 per cent. Two-thirds of workers do not have formal jobs. ( think about that, only 1/3 of the entire population has a real job)

I do fully understand why Americans would be frusterated though with the amount of money going to Haiti. America ALWAYS gives the most money by far and away and still crapped upon by so many other nations who give far less then their share. It is not as much the countries that give far less but say America should give more it is rather just sick of seeing tax money wasted. America gives billions upon billions of tax dollors away every year of tax money. People would not mind as much that America spends far more then any other country if the money at least most times went to the right places but with these countries it rarely does.

you HAVE to play HALO 3 or ODST for them to give aid?! :?

why not just give aid without the necessary rules and regulations?

it sounds like a publicity stunt to me.

So even if it is ( me thinks fine, could be ) do ya think the beneficiaries of such help in dire times will refuse the help saying: I read a post from Muffin..... that said it's all for pub... hmm - I dunno - try giving a bunch of yourself, blood or savings and see how it's received - Just a thought.. :P

Bungie, just stop giving, ya know even tho you help some folks in need, we all know it's only for selfish purposes.. :o

That's just one way. And I'm all for it. There are plenty of people out there that can't give a monetary donation for whatever reason. This is a good way for them to contribute. It fosters a sense of community and allows people to actually DO something to help out.

Another way they're giving is with t-shirts. Proceeds will go to donations to the American Red Cross.

Or buy something from their online store. 100% of the profits through February go to the Red Cross as well.

Q. How do you like your Haiti ma'm? A. Shaken not stired! :P Black humour aside, my prayers have been with them and this is quite noble of Bungie, but with a following like theirs this might make them bankrupt! :)

Im more concerned with this though. I love to help out when I can but...ugh. My friend is looking towards his brother to get me a sticker or something so I can get a cheap repair. When that happens is yet to be known. Whats funny is I pre-ordered Me2 so I'll just bring it over to a friends and "borrow" their 360.

It says "wearing a special emblem." If they don't put this as one of those messages that pop up when you start the game then I don't think many people will be wearing the right emblem.
