Seriously I just got it and it's already sucking me in. It's everything that makes the genre good without all the shit that has bogged it down in recent years.

Was gonna get it when I got my 3DS before christmas but realised I didn't really ahve the time for it, will get it when it's on sale eventually
too bad it's on handhelds though because it does look like a good game but I will never subjugate my eyes and hands to a small screen and cramps.
Get an XL yo. Beautiful, large screens ^_^
It's decent so far, a bit slow, but that's expected from a job system driven JRPG.
Although, I wish people would acknowledge other great RPGs, too. There have been loads of great JRPGs in the past few years, both remakes and originals. Seriously, last year gave us two more to add to the pile: Shin Megami Tensei IV and Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl. Both are definitely old school but don't feel dated. I can name others, too.
Basically, Bravely Default is great but there are other great ones, too. People who act like there hasn't been a good original JRPG in years are looking in the wrong places.
@Gue1: If you get hand cramps while handheld gaming, you're doing it wrong. I think I play most often on handhelds and I don't get cramps unless I hold the system in an awkward position.
Looks like some of the early Final Fantasy games before all the emo kids and bike races...so it should be good. I've downloaded the demo, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Maybe tomorrow.

my freind got an xl and its resolution is pretty much what i would expect my normal 3ds has sharp graphics, switch the game to the xl with 90 percent bigger screen and the resolution is the same but the screen is nearly twice as big, i think it looks terrible, i see big pixels where on my normal one with the small screen their nice and sharp.
I didn't enjoy the demo at all. I felt like it just dumped me into the game while overwhelming me with information that I couldn't really do anything with at the moment and at the same time giving me zero explanation or frame of reference for important aspects of the gameplay. Then I did a couple battles just outside of town where enemies could kill me in one hit and poison/silence everyone in my party over and over so I turned it off.

I'm assuming you don't have a smartphone then?

Dude, I hear ya, I really do. I'm learning to deal with it though, too many good games on handhelds. I can't keep missing out any longer.
QUESTION for peeps who have the game.
Is there any way to disable the voice acting? From all the footage I've watched that's the one thing that would annoy me about this game. Take out the crappy voice over and it would be a straight up old school jrpg.

It's really not that bad, adjusting to a smaller screen is a little weird at first but I love how I can bring the device anywhere and play it not just sitting in front of my TV/monitor
I love RPGs, especially old-school RPGs. However, it has microtransactions. Including one for an XP boost. Makes me wonder how the late-game grinding is going to be. So I'm not interested.

Yes. You can turn voices down. You won't hear a thing.
