Bioshock: Remastered - side by side comparison

Now, 2K has released a video that condenses this sequence from the original game and compares it to the upcoming BioShock: The Collection, a remaster of BioShock, BioShock 2 and BioShock Infinite.

BioShock: The Collection has 1080p graphics and runs at "up to" 60 frames per second, 2K said. There are new and improved textures and art assets created by Blind Squirrel Games. It's due out on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on 16th September 2016.

So basically...this is a console version of the pc version on the highest settings?

But I decided when it was first announced that I would be passing on this collection. I'm all good on the previous Bioshock games.

@uninspiredcup: well the video on GameSpot said it is a worthy remake. I have only played the first one. Need to pick up the others.

Gamespot staff will primarily consist of console gamers, so that makes sense.

Pc gamers know before touching it the advantages they already had.

Not exactly a side by side comparison. Not that much of a difference, except a few scenes seemed a little sharper. Of course the originals were quite good looking games in their own right. I still play the original on the 360 and it still looks fine. Same with my PC versions. Still I will buy the collection just to have all the discs in one box, and be able to play on a current gen system. Although there's no way in hell I'll pay $60 for this. I might have bought it day one for $40, but I can wait until it hits the $20 sweet spot.

Interesting that they only show changes for the intro of BS1 and nothing about changes in Infinite... probably because they aren't that big. It's a 1080p version with higher textures, a few extra decals and improved AA, 60fps vs 30... aka PC release with a few extra bling things (jelly fish, seaweed, etc.)

Yeah, the first one was pretty good and really shined because it was early in last gen and looked phenom for it's time. I mean, just the opening scene and the first hour of the game sucked you in to it's underwater VG world but after that the sequels IMO didn't recapture the ummm, Rapture. lol :P

Yeah, these remasters are actually quite sad. It's like a slightly better textured PC version.

Escape from Butcher Bay had a huge upgrade for its HD remaster, but this? This is just paltry.

Looks like some of the models and textures have improved, but it really does just look mostly like a 1080p version with a slightly sharper image on the consoles.

It's a good upgrade to people who only played the last gen versions of the games and never placed it on a PC. It's a nice collection too.

They will try to get people like us in with some paltry shit. "Look at what we did with Bioshock 1! Amazing! We upped the animations from 30 fps, which we could have done in 2007, but now they are here!! Amazing!"

Remasters are kind of getting silly. I mean I get why they do them, but really how many more games from last gen are they going to remaster?

I will pass. I looking forward to the remastered version of the remastered version of Bioshock. This is just level 1 remastery.

I'm buying this collection as I only played the first game so I was interested to see what people had to say about it. While I'm here I spot some complete imbecile bragging about trolling console threads saying 'uh.... muh PC...' which nobody gives a flying f*** about it so yeah, I was so taken aback at the utter stupidity of it I decided to comment.

Have you visited a single topic related to PC today or are you just trolling console threads desperately hoping someone somewhere will be impressed you have a PC? Just, you know... wondering, special one.

Just like the Dead Rising collection, I want it, but not sure if willing to buy for its outright asking price when either release, though it's good value there's still far more interesting new games coming out that I'd rather get. However, look forward to seeing what good holiday sales there might be on both. At very least I'll hold out for a dry season and/or maybe a substantial price cut or opportunistic sale. Much rather get Dead Rising or Bioschock collections than paying same price for a Skyrim remaster.

Anyhow, these last gen games were pretty fun and probably still are, the remaster looks decent in upping resolution and framerate. At least they did that right. That isn't always a guarantee this gen.

FUCKING REMASTER CRAP. This is what i've been saying, this shit ain't remastering, this is just milking popular franchises. What's the point of showing a ps360 version when there's a pc version of same games? Oh! yeah! there's an actual difference. If they showed the pc version and then this supposedly "remastered edition", people wouldn't be able to see the difference and justify the purchase of the games they've already played.

It is milking shit, but remasters aren't inherently bad. For all the shit Gearbox gets, which is well deserved, the Homeworld Remake was a dead franchise they resurrected quite gloriously.

Of course that's the exception, you are quite right in implying it's lazy cash-grabs. Shit, you're average team of teenage modders do a better job of enhancing a game than a billion dollar studio.
