Biggest franchise destroyed this generation?

After seven years we are almost done with the seventh generation of consoles.  What game franchise do you think ended up suffering the most?

My vote goes to Resident Evil.  One of the greatest franchises in video game history and it basically introduced survival horror to the masses.  The story was always garbage, the controls were tank like, but i always wanted to replay it and it never got old.  Today, the series has been turned into a QTE Rambo simuilator.  The story has played a bigger role in the lastest incarnations, but the story is worse than ever.  

Resident Evil 4 marked the begining of the end, but atleast it was a great game that still felt like Resident Evil because it managed to maintain the atmosphere that the previous games cultivated.  Sure, the Ganado's werent as cool as zombies, but the night time level in the rain when the Las Plagas popped out of their heads was amazing when you first experienced it.  

The dogs when you got back to the church were also well done.  The castle was also excellent and you never felt completly safe while playing the game for the first time.  

Unfortunatley RE5 was the end of the franchise as we know it.  Chris Redfield became addicted to steroids and could literally break a ten ton  boulder with his bare hands.  The story felt like it was written by a seven year old child who has a severe case of ADHD.  Coop was introduced which destroyed the atmosphere, and you never ran out of bullets.

RE6 speaks for itself.  Complete garbage and a disgrace to gaming.

Watching Halo, Resident Evil, and Ninja Gaiden jump off a cliff was pretty sad.

Ehhh, that was more of a fad that got milked to death by Activision.  I dont view it as an important franchise.  

Ninja Gaiden, great one generation then became abysmal the following generation. Resident Evil is definitely right up there.

GTA i know a lot of people liked GTA 4 but for me that game did not feel like GTA im not saying it was a bad game but it didnt feel like GTA.murat8

LoZ, Resident evil, final fantasy. Dont get why people are saying halo... ive never really played them but they seem pretty popular to mejoel_c17

I don't play the series but Final Fantasy seems to have really fallen since last gen. 

Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

It had A LOT of things going for it to make it last for many years, but they got way too greedy. Four games in a year will kill pretty much any franchise.

As time went on World of Warcraft lost its magic when they started rewarding people for minimal effort, and began removing the social aspect of the game (which also plays into the first complaint).

Between vanilla WoW, and The Burning Crusade, it truly was a magical world that you wanted to live in night and day. Now the game just feels dead. Zones are empty, and you don't even have to communicate with people to arrange dungeons/raids because you can just hit a queue button.

That's my vote simply because WoW was the most amazing game I've ever seen.

BC, right before the nerfs to Sunwell plateau were the halcyon days of WoW.  

I quit right before Wrath came out and sold my account.  You could tell the game was only going to get worse.  

Paper Mario, if you ask me.

Kinda still hoping they make a real Paper Mario game for Wii U though.

Resident evil is up there. Such a great game with RE4 and it's been crashing and burning since. Crysis took a bit of a dip too, but we'll see if C3 can grasp its way back.

Silent hill seem to have more miss then hit. I personally felt Shattered memories was great.

From a gameplay perspective, they don't play anything alike. But from a multiplayer structure stand point, Halo 4 is no different than any other console FPS on the market. Prior Halo games were made around the idea of controlling the map, while Halo 4 doesn't. Instead you're rewarded with power weapons for staying in advantagous areas, while giving up the map, just ike CoD.

With power weapons being rained down, there is no flow to any maps. Players run in random directions looking for other players, since there are no static weapon spawns, meaning there is now map flow, just like CoD.

The game locks layers out of content until they've played the game enough, just like CoD. Also, even if you've played enough you're still locked out of the speacializations if you didn't buy it fast enough.
