Before Dragon Age I would probably say I like bioware more, they make better rpg, but bethesda is more successful.

Now I can say Bioware for sure, I have a feeling the SWTOR may be their most commercially successful game.

I kind of doubt its coming out next year, but Im gonna be upgrading my PC for that one.

I liked Fallout 3 and The Witcher, and loved NWN2, but DAO is how it should be done. I don't really put jRPGs or hack'n'slash(Demon Souls) in the same category. So yeah it's Bioware for me, if TOR delivers their RPG line-up will also be pretty diverse covering action-RPG, cRPG and MMORPG.

Just by looking to the list Bioware for sure. Add also the fact that Bethesda pulled the "lets change the focus of games to appeal to the masses" move. Not popular with the fans.

Nice Cave Story avatar.

Someone had a nicer GIF one. But can't find it. Maybe I should try again.

Bioware. Bethesda brings out buggy unfinish games. You have to wait a year or so for people to make MODs to fix it.

I can't imagine playing Oblivion on a console without any MODs. The character designs and level system was awful. People had to correct all the flaws to that game before it was even playable.

Bioware. Even though I do not consider it debatable now, once TOR releases I do not know how anyone would vote for Bethesda.

Bioware easily. Besides the open world efforts, pretty much everything gameplay-related in bethesda games came from bioware.

And dragon age origins is perhaps one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Also I feel sad for the 9 people who voted RPGs are for noobs, thats if they actually meant it.

Bio-Ware by far. I enjoyed Fallout 3 but as a RPG it didn't deliver on the things that I expect an RPG to deliver on.

I voted Bioware, because they've been the king of the rpg for a while now and with DAO they continue to prove why... I will way that Bethesda has truly made me a believer in what they have to offer. Fallout3 was amazing and I very much enjoyed Elder Scrolls. Anything stacked against Mass Effect or KOTOR however is instant fail in my book.

Probably Bioware, but I like Bethesda games aswell. I just got Dragon Age today. First three hours were epic, alot better than I expected, but I suspect I went for the best intro. So sick of hearing people complain about Bethseda though, it's getting tiresome now.

Anyway there's been loads of great RPGs this gen, despite what people say. Games like Dragon Age, The Witcher, Demon's souls (Still havn't played this. Delivery is taking it's sweet time.), Persona 4, Mass Effect, Valkyria Chronicles, Kings Bounty, Oblivion, Fallout 3, etc.

Oh lul wat? Bethesda? No just no, they are far from the best RPG developers this gen, if anything they make the genre seem recessive, despite crafting such detailed enviroments to explore. Bioware is well ahead, not even a comparison, CD Projekt is a good step above bethesda too.

I would say Obsidian ... NWN 2 : MotB > DA : O and NWN 2 > ME, follwowed by CD Projekt. While Dragon Age is really good, ME was pretty average in all departments except graphics -- before Dragon age I would have put Bethesda above Bioware because of Fallout 3, but currently Bioware.

Crossel777

I really hope you're an actual fan of From software's past RPGs like King's Field or Shadow Tower, and not just saying this because of Demon's Souls?

Bethesda. Bioware's kind of lost their touch - they still have yet to put out something that rivals Baldur's Gate 2 in story/gameplay/scope. I will concede that Bethesda has done something similar by making Oblivion a shadow of Morrowind, but they also managed to move the Fallout series into the third dimension without completely ruining the feel of the game. Having said that, the stories in Bioware's games are actually good - great, even. Bethesda has narrative capabilities that are dwarfed by Uwe Boll.

I feel like have more options and what I do makes more of a difference in Bioware's titles, and in that regard they would be my choice of a better "role playing" developer. However, to defend a Bethesda a bit I would say that they're way better at creating an explorable world that I get engaged in easy. If you could marry the two (Beware? Biowesda?) it would be perfect. Both have strengths, in terms of offering an role playing experience Bioware seems to have an edge.

-RPGamer-

Bethesda + Bioware = Beware. Pure genius RPGamer, just pure genius :lol::lol:

And Bioware completely mopping the floor with Bethesda in the polls. All is right in the universe :)

Well, Bioware made KOTOR, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect, which were all amazing. Bethesda made Oblivion and TSI (Which was awesome) and Fallout 3 plus DLC (Fallout 3 & Mass Effect are amongst my favorite RPGs/Games this Gen). This is a hard choice...

...both?

Bioware easy.

Besides the rest of their roster, I've been playing Dragon Age for about 25 hours now and I have to say it's fantastic, even playing with all settings on low.

agreed, but not as big a cookie as if you just said Bioware.... Square Enix is a shell of what it once was.

Tough call, really. Bioware has made nothing but awesome RPGs (they made me fall in love with the Star Wars universe all over again :D). But Bethesda is my personal favorite (I loved the Elder Scrolls series, and Fallout 3 was a masterpiece in my eyes). It's really hard for me to choose :P.

If I had to pick I would say Bioware.

Though Gearbox just came out with a gem and Blizzard is about to wow us with Diablo 3 next year.

Wasdie
 They already confirmed 2011 is EARLIEST Diablo 3 comes out, you forget they will probably release SC2 + all expansions before diablo 3.

Bethesda makes big open worlds you can explore, Bioware makes stories and characters.

Bioware has the edge.

Bioware by far, Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect are hands down two of the top games this gen.

Bethesda's step backwards with Oblivion was laughable.

Fallout 3 I'll give to them, had plenty of fun moments, but Bioware just owns on all levels.

Nice job including all the past games from both developers... You forgot about quite a few. However, I'm going to have to go with Bioware easily on this one. Bethesda has forgotten their roots, and their new games just aren't very good.

Bethesda ruined Fallout. It was never a series that was supposed to be an Oblivion kind of game. The dialogue and characters are what made Fallout, Fallout 3 had none of the good stuff.

Bioware's definitely better, but I wouldn't call either the RPG king of the gen, since neither have produced any of the best RPGs this gen (imo).

Nope, Bioware still reigns supreme. They frequently release quality titles on both PC platform and Consoles. Then they have a huge MMO that is about to release the is bringing the RPG back into MMORPGs. (and other neat new things)
