Bethesda or Bioware - Which is king of the RPG this gen?

OK, so since Im bored of most of these threads today I figured Id see which dev people prefer here. My vote goes to Bioware, and I think it will probably win by a country mile, but Fallout 3 was really awesome and Oblivion does have a large fanbase. So whos your fav?

Just a refresher this gen -

Bethesda - Fallout 3 (plus numerous expansions), Oblivion (with numerous expansions), coming soon apparently not Fallout New Vegas (producer though)

Bioware - Dragon Age Origins, Mass Effect, coming soon Mass Effect 2, Star Wars The Old Republic (MMO)

Bioware wins by a landslide.

I think they have genuinely made the best RPG's this gen. All have excellent storylines with enjoyable characters and worlds.

If I had to pick I would say Bioware.

Though Gearbox just came out with a gem and Blizzard is about to wow us with Diablo 3 next year.

BioWare...by far and wide.

I have to say bethesda, Though I have not played DAO yet. FO3 is my one of my favorites of the generation

Easly Bioware. They perfectly craft story and character development with tons of possibilities in character design. Every NPC you meet is so fleshed out in personality and has a rich history, you really feel like they existed before you encountered them and had a life, not just sprang into being to be there to provide you a quest. Nobody does game replay value in a sp experience like they do. I would even go so far as to say when it comes to RPG design, Bioware isn't just better than Bethesda - they are without equal :D

Bioware easy for me. although i did LOVE fallout 3.

For Star Wars: The Old Republic alone. :D

Neither company made Valkyria Chronicles or Demon's Souls, so I'm going to have to go with None of the Above.

Bioware, since Bethesda doesn't really make RPGs. Bethesda are more like the king of fake RPGs, in their current games stats have no meaning or effect and also have no choices or consequences.

The RPG king is Modern Warfare 2 - they got the best RPG launchers.

Bioware didnt make NWN2,Obsidian did.

Fallout:New Vegas is also being made by Obsidian,Not Bethesda.

both companies are far from kings...but Bioware slaughters Bethesda out of the two.

Though Betheseda did had some great games this generation with Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, I personally think Bioware just did more to sway me their way. Games like Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect got my interest more and is more enjoyable for me. I am also curious on how Star Wars: The Old Republic would turn out when it finally hits store shelves.

This gen? It's Fallout 3 vs Mass Effect for me. It's a hard pick, but I'll go with BioWare. Can't wait until I have Dragon Age in my hands.IronBass

Bioware makes the best Single-player Role Playing Games. Period.

Bethesda is more eye-candy then actual depth IMO.

Fallout 3 and Oblivion LOOK awesome, but I do not like the RPG mechanics to be honest.

Up until the release of Dragon Age I would narrowly have gone with Bethesda. However Dragon Age pretty much blow the competition out of the water. I love Fallout 3, but Dragon Age is in a league of it own.Mazoch

I feel like have more options and what I do makes more of a difference in Bioware's titles, and in that regard they would be my choice of a better "role playing" developer. However, to defend a Bethesda a bit I would say that they're way better at creating an explorable world that I get engaged in easy. If you could marry the two (Beware? Biowesda?) it would be perfect. Both have strengths, in terms of offering an role playing experience Bioware seems to have an edge.

Cannot wait for ME2. Really wish I could get it on PC , though I played the first on 360. Urgh. I wonder what the SR's will be for ME2?

Just by looking to the list Bioware for sure. Add also the fact that Bethesda pulled the "lets change the focus of games to appeal to the masses" move. Not popular with the fans.

Before Dragon Age I would probably say I like bioware more, they make better rpg, but bethesda is more successful.

Now I can say Bioware for sure, I have a feeling the SWTOR may be their most commercially successful game.
