The Witcher leaps and bounds ahead of the others.

Overall, I'd say Oblivion. I enjoyed Fallout 3 the most, but it wasn't as deep as Oblivion when it came to equipment and inventory.shaggygrosser
I've only played Mass Effect, Oblivion and Fable II, so Mass Effect takes it for me.
I've always wanted to play The Witcher though, and I think that would put up a good fight against Mass Effect for favorite WRPG. Sadly, I don't have a PC to game with. :(
then witcher followed by fallout 3 oblivion sucks. mass effect sucks. fable 3 probably sucks if it's like the first onehy4k
Good thing all of those games do not suck. It is called Fable 2 btw. :?
I said Oblvion, but thats the only one I've played. I'm getting Fallout 3 soon and it looks awesome. I want to get Mass Effect too, but I'm only 13 and I'm trying to figure out how to convince my mom about a *certain* rating descriptor on the box.
mass effect is a third person shooter, fable 2 is an action adventure... so out of the remaining 3, oblivion.

no. oblivion definitely has enough RPG elements to be considered an RPG. fable 2 doesn't.

You do realize that your argument is entirely subjective. Where is the line that determines when a game has "enough" RPG elements to be considered an RPG? It's a personal preference. Someone else could realistically make the argument that the only RPG possible is a game that follows a strict turn-based system. Anything else is action-adventure.[QUOTE="ThatGuyFromBe4"][QUOTE="kage_53"] Oblivion is also an action adventure game.Paladin_King

Anything else is action-adventure.personal preference has nothing to do with whether or not a game is an RPG. mass effect and fable 2 have very light RPG elements, oblivion and to a lesser extent, fallout 3, have heavy RPG elements. if mass effect is an RPG, then so is bioshock. just because a game has a few RPG elements doesn't make it an RPG.
For me its between the Witcher and Fallout 3 both are excellent but im going to have to give it to Fallout 3 for the variety, diverse enviroment, world changing actions, and exploration.
I would rate Neverwinters Nights 2 above both mind but thats not in the poll now is it.

WHEN IT CAME TO EQUIPMENT AND INVENTORY. Oblivion had more pieces of armor and weapons, and more ways to customize them via enchantments. And then there was alchemy...
The Witcher by a country mile. The others are shallow, repetitious, dumbed down WRPGs designed for the simpleton Xbox owners. If The Witcher hadn't released, this would have been by far the worst generation for Western RPGs in history, because Xbox 360 has single handedly almost destroyed the genre.BlackManticorasWow you have no idea what you are talking about if you think that. The Witcher is a simplistic game more so than Fallout3 and Oblivion.
You could always get the 12 rated UK version :P That's the one thing I like BBFC for....I said Oblvion, but thats the only one I've played. I'm getting Fallout 3 soon and it looks awesome. Not necessarily, I kinda agree with his opinion even though it's slightly agressive.

I do not see how the 360 has destroyed the genre. Would you kindly inform me?I played and beat Fable 2 and it was as much of a disappointment as Fable 1 was. Sure it had more options but I still beat it just as fast as I did the first one. I was hoping for a lengthy game. Side quests and such are great and all but the main story should be fulfilling and a decent size.

You guys claiming The Witcher is the only "true RPG" on the list and blaming consoles for "ruining RPGs" should take a look at that.

Yahtzee is popular and that makes his opinion more correct than others. :D

Although I don't agree with the idea that consoles have "destroyed RPGs" or that Mass Effect/Fallout 3 are not RPGs, that video doesn't really do anything to dispel that notion. If anything, the video basically says that The Witcher is a far deeper RPG than any of the other games on the list (since his main complaint was that the game was too complicated, which I don't understand at all BTW).
Umm...sounds like he played the first hour and then stopped....because it was too complex for him. Either way his reviews are meant as jokes...not to be taken seriously. Have YOU played The Witcher?http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/22-The-Witcher
