I agree. I have yet to actually see a "good" team shooter on consoles beyond probably Team Fortress 2 and Monday Night Combat (which wasn't that great but at least had some form of teamwork).

Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2, but Natural Selection 2 is better than Tribes imo, too much pay2win going on with that one. I'd even put Bad Company 2 in before Tribes to be honest.

I'd say the Battlefield series on consoles, my favorite were the BFBC games, Battlefield 3 was okay but it was definitely designed for larger playgroups in mind and the console versions were shorted. BF1943 was also pretty fun, makes me wish they'd release a BF2143 in near future as a $15 downloadable title. Battlefield is all about squads and you have to support your squads and work with them to do well, you need medics to revive you, you need support to drop ammo, you need snipers to use recon and set up spawn beacons, you need engineers to repair and take out tanks. Roles are essential for planning on how to attack and the strength of a squad is greatly increased when people work together.

Also, I really only liked Battlefield's rush mode, territory domination wasn't really fun, but maybe my mind might change on that when I finally get access to 64 player MP.

I'd have to say Natural Selection 2. In terms of the necessity for teamwork, no other FPS really comes close.

I really want to list Red Orchestra 2 but that game was released in such a piss poor state and didn't really live up to it's predecessor. That game was such a missed opportunity.

Thats not what I said. Learn to read. Most CoD/BF players are concerned about personal success over the success of their team, A large influx of that type of player would ruin a game like RS/RO2 that hinges on teamwork and coordination. That type of player probably wouldn't enjoy a game like RO2 for the same reasons.

The impatient types in this thread surely fall into this category.

I never said CoD/BF players 'can't' play RO2.

Forgive me if I'm wrong since I never played RO2, but I've noticed most team based shooters tend to have two camps to them that can sometimes mingle together: the loner camp where everyone just dms all day, and the teamwork camp, who is normally in the smaller competitive part of the game. Would that not be the same for RO2?

In TF2 you could do both, and you wouldn't necessarily do a good job being a loner against an organized team, which shows that teamwork tends to win overall. Still though that's why they have pub servers for those people that tend to like shooting things and not want to deal too much into team play. Sure there is interlap which leads to stacked teams, but it's never that predictable like fighting in a comp game.

Yea there are always a few lone wolves, though like in TF2 if you play your role well you will be helping your team.

The community seems to be comprised mostly of players who are in it for the teamwork though, 9 games out of 10 will have people communicating on voice chat and coordinating artillery strikes and calling out the positions of enemies. Since the community is smaller than TF2's which has a good number of casual hat-collecting types I find proper teamwork is more common in RO2 than in TF2.
