Best stealth shooter series?

I like Splinter Cell due to the more realistic approach to stealth. I like the MGS series, but I just can't take it's stealth approach seriously. When you can get back up from a rocket to the face, why exactly are you trying to hide from a guy with a rifle?

You people are ridiculous. All the games on there are stealth first with moderate to heavy action elements present. That doesnt make them any less of a game. Get out of here with all this pure stealth nonsense. Its not always the way to go. Not to mention its about stealth shooters.

Well I did read a news article about a guy that escaped from jail in a box recently. The guards must have been graduate of the Kojima Security Training Facility.

Splinter Cell gets my vote. It's the only REALLY stealthy game i've played. MGS comes second, not 4 though, that Camosuit makes itrubbish.

Is that really a stealth series? Logan's Shadow had some stealth elements, but it felt more of a TPS for the most part. Then again LS is the only SF game I played (I have the first one through), so I don't know if the eariler ones are more stealth like.

Anyway my vote will go to MGS. Metal Gear Soild 2 was pretty good, and Peace Walker is great from what I played of the demo.

Metal Gear. No ifs or butts.

I would say Splinter Cell for the mechanics, and MGS for the story.

Thief is also quite excellent.

I think they could have done A LOT more with it in MGS4 though. I was dissapointed that you had so few new moves.

How cool would it have been to pull of some of that sweet CQC from the cutscenes? Time 3 button presses just right (or something) and you end up with the guy in an arm lock with his own assault rifle under your control and aimed forward.

As a game MGS by far.

As a "stealth shooter"(?) Splinter Cell followed closely by Hitman.
