Stalker games by a mile, im playing clear sky again to get ready for No3 which judging by the benchmark is optimised much better and the game still makes me say "Wow" out loud when im playing it.
my old PC died so im playing it on much better hardware this time round as well its like a whole new game.
haha, I dare you to show me better fire.[QUOTE="killzowned24"][QUOTE="moose_knuckler"]This gen, Killzone 2 (but it has the weakest fire I've seen) Last gen, KOTOR seriesgood_sk8er7
IF I must...
Far Cry 2
Best fire in any game I must say.
I must of got a very crappy version of far cry becasue my game didn't come close to that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is from one of the pre-release, touched up, 'art' photos, right? It certainly doesn't look like that in the Far Cry 2 I played.
maybe i missed cause those videos are so boring to watch but i didnt see any lightning. In addition to Crysis and Stalker, Cryostasis.
See the awesomeness (of the lightning).
See moar.

Flight Sim X.
opps, I forgot about flight sims....Its amazing how many people are talking about lighting and not lightning, even when the N is stressed in the topic title. Add thunder next time :)
Stalker is the winner, all those saying Killzone 2 i will just assume you haven't played Stalker or Clear Sky, even Crysis the "graphics king" doesn't win here.
I agree with this dude right hereStalker and Stalker Clear Sky.
No other game comes even close to how well they do lightning, and if you say otherwise you clearly haven't played either of them.
The way the shadows just dance around with each flash is just so creepy and atmospheric is unbeliveable.
It adds and changes alot too the gameplay too, getting into a fire fight in the middle of a lightning storm at night is just amazing, it becomes a tactical thing, waiting for the flashes to see where the enemies are and using the thunder to cover up the gunfire. It not scripted either, clouds form and cause storms completely randomly its not just something made for one level.
Also if your running in DX10 it makes everything wet with realistic flowing water on surfaces.

I might be wrong, but i dont actually recall any game ever doing lightning right.
They tend do the same physics-shattering thing that movies do: The lightning and thunder occur at the same time. Are they suggesting that light moves at the speed of sound or that sound moves at the speed of light? Either case is an impossibility.
Never mind best or worst lightning, how about we get a few games that just simply get it right?

The Stalker games get it right.
HERE Light then sound.
Watch how the shadows dance with multiple strikes.
The lightning anomalies look good too.Damn that game looks really good!
