Such a pity but seems like in its second week from release Bayonetta 2 completely left the UK charts without even being in the top 40 games.

in its first week bayonetta 2 was #7

Tragedy.

Oh well, British gamers (same folks that kept Zumba Fitness at the top of the charts for over a year) are known for having shitty tastes. Can't help them.

May it do better in the US, though I doubt it. Bayo 2 was always gonna be a flop.

@charizard1605: Add buying Knack over Mario 3D World. Heck, Lightning Returns in Japan fell down in charts where Mario 3D World went up.

So you're a fan of Knack. I think I'd rather eat the kidney pie.

Not being funny but you can't really judge off of any charts considering the Wii U installed base is tiny compared to every other platform, plus Bayonetta didn't do that well the first time round, it's a small minority who buy into this game and when you cut off the rest of the consoles and becomes exclusive, this is how it's going to be, it was never going to be a system seller.

While I agree that my fellow country men tend to have bad taste in games. Don't you dare insult black pudding, that stuff is a gift from the gods!

The Wii U is really not popular here, I'm more surprised it entered the charts at all tbh. I don't know a single other person that owns one in fact which is pretty crazy. I've still got to buy it though so that's at least 1 more sale down the road. ;)

I think in the UK most people are too busy playing Fifa these days to realise there are actually other games you can play too.

So much for all the effort the fans of this garbage game put into hyping it and 'reviewing' it.

I'll just come out and say it: Bayonetta certainly is a great game, the reviews speak for themselves. But I think the problem is mass-appeal. If you were to judge the game by it's cover (metaphorically speaking) it looks like some kind of fetish turned into a video game. Tall chick with secretary glasses, legs that won't end, skin tight suit that pummels her enemies with giant high heels? Sure a little sexiness doesn't hurt, and yes, Bayonetta isn't meant to be taken seriously, but I can imagine that for a lot of people it's just too far out there.

UK gamers have the worst taste in games on the planet so I am waiting for US/JP/EU/global numbers before drawing conclusions. It would surprise me a little if it wouldn't sell at least 1 million in the end. I know there are not that many Wii U's sold but I heard it was selling ok where I live.

a lot of people I know only play fifa, call of duty or battlefield Thats it.

also the Wii u is pretty much non existent here its actaully near impossible to buy on high streets.

places like asda andTesco don't even have any space dedicated to it and either don't sell it at all, or they might have a console in back if you ask.

it's also touch and go if game, Grainger games or cex are bothering to sell Wii u.

Hopefully that will push then to release it on other plataforms. With that they'll sell at least one more copy.

I doubt this game will reach 1 million copies sold. It's already doing 5x worse then the first Bayonetta.

It's the install base, WiiU users are not going to buy Bayonetta 2, unfortunately. It will be a critically acclaimed game but low in sales.

We all knew that was going to happen. Doesn't reflect the quality of the game, more so it's made for a small group of gamers.

@Heil68: WiiU sells about 3,800 or so units a week in the UK (as per vgchartz.com. That is 19k fewer than the PS4 and 10k fewer than the Xbox1. Small install base and gamers who are not as likely to purchase games like Bayonetta 2.

Oh well, I'm sure the 50,000 worldwide that buy this game will enjoy it. It's arguably the most impressive last gen title.

If these low sales keep happening i see plat being bought by nintendo, which is no good because of the wii u. I will hate nintendo forever if this does happen.

Nintendo knows how to treat their second party devs though. Platinum would be in good hands with them. And look at what platinum did with metal gear rising...imagine if Nintendo let them take on one of their IP's? Like star fox? HELLO.

Pretty ironic gamers talking about people having bad taste in the UK. Bayonetta is itself a perfect example of "bad taste" in video games. It's about as anti-mainstream of a game story that's ever been created - another character designed for 12 year old boys (like the cringe worthy nudie scenes in a God of War game, or the "hot coffee" in Grand Theft Auto).. Seriously, if you sit down any random person and had them watch this game or cut-scenes, they would think only an insane person would actually enjoy such utter nonsense.

I admit I enjoy these types of games once on awhile (DmC, Shadows of the Damned, etc) - but the "stories" are completely cringe-worthy to me and I would never actually want anyone I know to actually see me playing that type of game.

Games are not for sitting down and watching.... It would be just as pointless to sit someone down and show them the cutsenes of Spec Ops The Line, regardless of whether they prefer it to Bayonetta or not.

Its a game.... Play It.

1. You care way too much what other people think of you.

2. Bayonetta is over the top in every way imaginable. If you're that bothered by the design of the lead character it's your problem, not the games.

3. The game is about GAMEPLAY, no one plays Bayonetta (Or DMC for that matter) for the story. I just finished the first Bayonetta and I can barely tell you what the hell happened in that game. I do remember the amazing combo system, unlockables, and boss battles though. Those were an absolute blast.

4. I have to say it twice..you care WAY too much what other people think of you. Seriously, grow up dude.

Really though, was anyone expecting this game to fly off the shelves just because its getting good reviews??

Platinum games are usually way over the top for most people. Gameplay is always solid, but everything else is simply too insane for me and other "regular folk." Their games are the very definition of a niche-oriented product.

And I'm right there with you, 2Chalupas. I wouldn't play this game in front of others, same as Senran Kagura Burst, or any of these other fan-service titles.
