Getting truely lost in a gameplay experience, RPGs (not the dungeons and dragons type) do it for me aswell as Shooters especially if they are tactical.
Casual games are a no no
Guess thats why I will never be interested in a Wii, theres no depth.

I guess it has to be fun for me to consider a game.

Music would have to be top notch.

If it's an RPG, the story and voice acting. If it's a shooter, it's how well the guns are made, animate and sound.

Story & AI...The story is what motivates me to keep playing and differentiates the game & I hate stoopid AI characters in games especially when they're "helping" you!

A Storyline tha really sucks you in. i.e: FF7 - graphics were terrible, gameplay was turnbased but still i loved it because of the depth of the story.

To me, the most appealing things would be:

Good storyline

Great replayability

Simplistic, but fun gameplay

Reliable hardware to play the games on (I hated my NES for this, blowing on the cartridges was annoying)

Affordable hardware to play the games on (I love my Nintedno DS for this, but hate PCs for it)
