Looking great now.
glad we see Alan wake side of story.
Just watch In The Mouth Of Madness.
This game is a waste of time.
Cup hating masterpiece like Alan wake once again. lol.

That's because uninspired knows this game is an Epic exclusive and will never be coming to Steam.
Let's just hope Alan Wake can jog longer or sprint in the sequel. He f**king runs out of breath every 10 seconds in the first game ffs.
Game looking very good. Really enjoyed the first game so definitely getting this one. October is going to be crazy busy for games.
Looks good. Not sure how you're gonna play it on your ancient computer, ghost. Even lems on a Series S will get better performance than you at this point😭

Haha! I forgot about this aspect of the game.
He could honestly do with some yoga classes and a gym membership. Someone obese could run faster than Alan Wake.
@ghosts4ever: So you see 5secs of Alan's gameplay and a 1:15 of Alan's cinematics and you say it's looking great now 🤦♂️
But I'm sure you will have a stealing good time with this game 🤣
above I post 14 minuts of gaameplay.
Looks absoutely incredible. that atmosphere.

Played an enjoyed the first Alan Wake, played American Nightmare is was terrible. I won't experience AW2 because Remedy are tightarses or lazy and don't want to make a disc version, so they can take a long walk off of a short pier as they won't be getting my money as I will be skipping this.

lol disc version? is this 1993?
It looks insane. I'm sad we're not getting Stalker 2 this year but Alan Wake 2 makes up for a lot.
The gameplay looks so much better than AW1 and American Nightmare.
even if perfect looking game like this getting any hate. no idea what game this community would like.
the game scream perfection.

14 minute video, about 30 seconds of "gameplay," without exaggeration lol

what 30 sec of gameplay?
exploration, combat, atmosphere. thats all 14 mintues.
no slow walking talking segment.

were we watching the same video lol? nothing but slow walking talking sections with an occasional tiny flicker of gunplay here and there, that's all i saw

you do same in Resident evil. point?
you cant expect combat every time like Doom.

no ones talking about resident evil, or expecting it to be doom. we're talking about this gameplay vid you posted.
fact: if this was a sony game you'd be racing to the keyboard to do your usual "walk in a straight line, press a button, movie game trash" routine, but because it's alan wake you turn a blind eye.
i bet you couldnt believe your luck when you saw the walking and talking bit in the subway tunnels. fusing metro and alan wake, it's like your dream game pal. hope you enjoy it but after seeing this it looks every bit as bad as the first to me

first game is masterpiece. far from walking talking. you did explore, plus they once agaain nailed dark world atmosphere. even more so.
plus this looks to be combat is heavily improved.

You do know you're talking to ghost right?
Once he finds a game to shill his gaming preferences go out the window. walking segments become gameplay, cinematics become gameplay, QTE's become gameplay, the story becomes the greatest in gaming etc, etc, etc.
Saw the 14m "gameplay" trailer, and ghost is bitchin' about TLOU being a movie? HOLY FKING SHIT! You're literally walking in a straight line almost the whole 14 minutes, and that's not a movie, but TLOU, especially TLOU2 is a movie game? Clueless.
So Alan Wake 2 only gets slighly over 30 fps at 4K native on an RTX 4090. sheesh
Full path tracing like Cyberpunk, is it getting better numbers in cyberpunk?
I hope my RTX 4070 can handle that raw power of full path tracing. But lucky for me, I'm only targeting 1440p anyway as I like to be the middle of the road.
I'm just glad Alan Wake 2 got delay as I wouldn't have time to play it as I'll be busy with Starfield & MK1. Just in time for Halloween to play Alan Wake 2.

There's two options I see here:
Either I'm gonna run this with path tracing, with DLSS and DLSS 3.5 providing the extra boost in performance at high resolutions.
Or I'm gonna forget about RT completely, think about RT in a next playthrough, and play the game with crisp and clear DLAA instead.
Though I'm opting for option 1 as the reflections in the non ray traced version looked rather grainy.
But yeah it's gonna be either of these two options as I already preordered the game on Epic.
@R4gn4r0k: the damned full path tracing again. Really wish textures and models were being improved more than the lighting... Not saying AW2 has bad textures or models, but I would like the same performance but with simpler lighting technique. And more GPU power for 8K textures, ultra high polygon counts etc. etc.
CP2077, when fully maxed out path traced at native 4K yields about 20-25fps for me. about 40-45fps with FG on and 60-80fps with DLSS3 Quality. I think the benchmark yielded 71 fps on average.
but 4K DLSS3 Quality with Psycho RT gets 90-120fps or about 105 fps average. when Phantom Liberty comes out I might play like this instead. I dunno.
but For AW2 they're showing 30fps 4K native and 100+fps with DLSS3, but we all know that's using DLSS3 Performance (booo)
My wild guess is 4K DLSS3 Quality maxed out path tracing will yield 60-65fps. That might be fine for a slow paced movie game like this, but man have I really got used to playing games at 120fps.
I think 80-90fps will be my sweespot for a game like this. Really hope a 4090 can do it lol but probably won't.
@davillain: I mean not to sound arrogant or anything but I really wouldn't bother with PT if I had a 4070 to be honest.
I have a 4090 and I'm already struggling to decide if PT is actually worth the cost of frames (or significant drop in resolution)
but like you said you are targeting 1440p so you might get relatively similar performance levels as me at 4K.
Edit:
Well apparently the 4070 gets 91 fps @ 1440p DLSS3 Performance in CP2077, not sure about DLSS3 quality but probably around the 60-65 fps mark.
so if you use 1440p DLSS3 performance (internal res of 720p) you might get 60 fps in AW2.

Yup, the damned lighting. UE 4 and UE 5 games look great, but they all require denoisers and TAA which makes the game look hazy and blurry. I've managed to find ways around this but with UE 5 the situation is even worse.
Which brings me to Aveum, a game that clearly sacrifices everything for good lighting. It has that UE 5 tech called Lumen... Means nobody is able to run it at good resolutions. And the rest of the games assets are nothing to write home about.
I also prefer gaming at high framerates and resolutions like you. But they don't tend to optimize the high end games like that anymore. It's all about having insane lighting and PBR so you can dazzle people with trailers.
Flash forward to the real world: nobody is playing Aveum and everyone is playing Armored Core and BG3. Two games that have good graphics and manage to scale to everyone's desires.
Please don't let Alan Wake 2 be some Aveum situation.

In TLOU. you have no choice but walk slow and listening to convo.
here its like Resident evil you walk, you sprint, you explore and engage in combat.
