I know it sounds dumb to compare them but Rev3games put up a "gameplay" comparison between the current and next gen version of the game but they mainly talked about graphics and in the video there is surprisingly little graphical difference. I'm guessing framerates and resolution is all better next gen but the details are shiockingly similar

Yeah, it's not that impressive. I guess you might as well pick it up along with your Ps4/Xbox One if you want to play it, but if you really want to play it, I see no reason not to just get it for 360/ps3.

I wonder how the WiiU version compares to the ps3/360.

Cross generation launch games are rarely more than a minimal improvement over previous gen hardware versions.

Not sure how many of you remember the start of the 360's life but every cross gen game would have looked the same as the PS2 version if not for the HD. In fact, most my 360 owning friends didn't have HDTVs yet and thats how we found that out.

With no SD to HD anymore, the differences will be even less this time around.

This video wasted it's time with too many cutscenes. With cutscenes, other than resolution (or possible screen tearing) you could almost do a comparison with max settings PC and it would barely matter. Especially when the youtube video is running 720p

When you watch the actual gameplay, the difference is far more clear.

That being said, I wouldn't buy a console just to see a "slight upgrade" of Assassin's Creed IV. It's still the same game. However obviously if you were getting a new console anyway, you wouldn't get this game on your old console.

Not surprising honestly with with a x-generational multiplat. Tempted to get it on PC but with BF4 around the corner (Preloaded ftw!!) i don't think i'll bother.

The 360 GPU was a beast in it's day. It's a shame that Microsoft seems to have forgotten what the most important piece of a gaming console is...

Seems like a pretty easy decision to me; if you are getting a next-gen console then wait to play AC on it, otherwise just get it for PS3/360. No matter what you decide you are playing a great game - at least from the reviews I've seen.

Honestly, youtube is not the best tool for graphical comparisons. Mamy subtle details such as smokes, particle effects, higher res textures are lost due to video compression. And that video wasn´t even 1080p.

i don't know what you expected, but from the ign and gamespot video reviews i can tell the ps4 version looks so much crisper and detailled. of course it's not the same step from ps2 to ps3, but i think it looks great (i'm not a pc gamer thoug, i guess pc gamers won't be impressed at all)

I was gonna wait until I get a PS4 for this. But if graphics/performance are 90% the same and it really is the improvement over III some reviews have said...perhaps not.

@Floppy_Jim: 720 to 1080p and 30fps to 60fps are huge differences! Not to mention the review also said the ps4 had better lighting and textures

1080p, 60fps, no fog and draw distance improvements, better lighting and detail, dynamic weather and foliage... it's a cross gen game, but come on. If you agree with this, then you also can't have the double standard that PC multiplats can offer much more over console versions, and you know how much that was touted last gen, lol. Don't be ridiculous.

And yet you'll want to play on, especially on PS4, where the superb weather and particle effects, as well as improved draw distance and high-res textures, bolster Ubi Montreal's great environmental design and free-running pathfinding. Flawed yet addictive, this Creed needs to change. “

They are advantages but are they worth waiting an extra month if you're gonna be getting a console version?. That's all people are saying.

The game gets yearly sequels,of course and they are not going to put any effort on the graphics.

If it was a year, no. But 1 month, hell yes. Unless you're not going to be an early adopter.

ACIII looked pretty bleh on PC with max settings, honestly. It's not the prettiest franchise... it favors graphical breadth over visual depth. Having said that, I'm looking forward to playing the game. On PC.

Doesn't look too different, but it's a cross-generation game, so it was expected. I'll all for performance over visuals, so PS4 running at 1080p/60fps is improvement enough for me.

Gun vs Red Dead Redemption is a good example of the improvements we should expect from cross-gen games like AC4 to future PS4/X1 games. It's almost one generation gap!

The video only goes up to 720p for me, which is odd considering all of Rev3's stuff is usually in 1080p. A comparison video in 720p is useless and a waste of my time! It's IGN level of bullshit!

It's noticeably better: Better textures, further LODs and draw distance, not overly aggressive DoF.

That said, t's clearly not a gen better, but alas, it's a launch game.

Everytime you post this 3" by 3" gif you own yourself.

Considering we all no the facts that XBONE version is missing

1. AA

2. AO

3. 720P

4. Lower framerate

Why do you do this to yourself?
