Game freak said something about how they aren't interested in making one a least what I recall. But want a least a pokemon stadium game
Good imagination.... but I'd prefer it if the two were never integrated for obvious pokemon fanboy reasons.
How about keep the player character models (and X/Y art style for that matter) during battle sequences and make it third person 3d adventure instead of top down. Have a rotatable camera
Honestly. I think there is huge money to be made from any company which makes a pokemon-like MMO. I just don't know why Nintendo is so stubborn and doesn't make it. With a better online service and a Wii U based Pokemon MMO they would really have something certain people couldn't miss out on. Instead eventually someone else will come up with it and they'll miss out.
Nintendo has never been online focus the creator said handheld worked perfectly with pokemon because you can carry it anyway and trade with people. A pokemon MMO is out of the question and something like Skyrim is possible but it would need to have online feature so players can play and trade with one another. Nintendo's console just isn't the platform to get the best online experience.
@CroidX: This attitude is why Nintendo is going down the swanny.
There is no inherent reason why Nintendo "isn't the right platform for online" or why Pokemon has to be carried around and traded. You have offered no reason as to why an MMO is out of the question. You could do any trading online, if it were offered, and the fact is, most people don't trade at all.
The only real reason is because, this is the way things are. That's just not a reason. It's not a reason now or ever.
@DocSanchez:
I have yet to see any MMO type games on Nintendo's console. Nintendo just doesn't show much investment in online gaming.
Dragon Quest X.
@DocSanchez:
When Nintendo shows its focus on online gaming than maybe a pokemon MMO is possible. And with the creator of Pokemon having less interest in developing and putting games on console the chance of any large scale pokemon console game is slim to none.
@CroidX: I'm not saying they're going to do it. I'm saying they should and that saying "they've never done it before now" isn't an excuse for not doing it.
I don't play Pokemon and haven't since Ruby/Sapphire as I "grew out of it" (come at me haters) but all I ever wanted when I played those games as a kid was a full on Pokemon entry on consoles in the same vein as the handheld games. I don't understand why Gamefreak/Nintendo have never done it, it's an instant money maker. And I'm not talking about those medicore Pokemon Stadium games, I'm talking a Gamefreak developed main entry in the series here.
Even now, if it ever happened, I would totally buy it and play the shit out of it.
A Pokemon mmo would rake in billions and they can do a huge update every end of the year adding more features and Pokemon and stuff.
You trust Nintendo to make a competent online game? lol
They would obviously collaborate with a company with mmo experience, and gamefreak would do a consulting role. Square enix might be a good partner for them they could make the graphics cell shaded like the dragon quest mmo but they must keep the traditional turn based battle mechanics.
They put more work in balancing a thousand pokemon in a single game. Putting that many pokemon in a full 3d game, each with their own animation is a lot of unnecessary work. You'd be getting the same games you have now with better graphics. Pokemon is grinding and stuff, which is something for on the go.
