A comparasion of PC and PS3 version of COD4.PC FAIL!

Well actually any LCD or Plasma TV should have some form of scaling inside. LCD Computer monitors having scaling chips inside, and the only place that you're really going to tell that it's been scaled is in small font text that computers use.

In game the difference is far less. Besides, GPU's can scale as well :?

A cheap HDTV costs as much as a very very good monitor... whats the problem here?

Besides i can hook up the ps3 to some cheap LCD cuz it has beter scaling.

My point being that your comparison fails because you used a cheap HDTV with a PC with a mediocre GPU and expected results... if you had spent that money on a monitor you would have gotten a better result for your bias comparison but that would have backfired since the PS3 version would look like the ugly duckling.

I am not saying that this applies to everyone and all that but this is a big flaw with PC gaming and surely not everybody may get affected by this.

Do PC gaming isn't flawed. Your PC is flawed because you are choosing to connect it to a cheap TV as opposed to a decent monitor, despite the fact that you know full well that it lacks the hardware to scale up to the appropriate resolution.

No you have to play in "windowed" mode if you are not going to play in the native res.Upscaling reduces the image quality significantly to the point that you may not game at all.Whereas upscaling with consoles is pretty good.

If you deny this then well you dont know what you are saying.

The ps3 was developed with gaming in mind.The PC was not as is clearly evident by the lack of essential features.So PC lose.Tech_Guy_2

What on earth do you mean "PC was developed..." Again, this is a flaw with YOUR PC. Not Pcs everywhere. Not even PCs in general. Just yours. Hook it up to a decent monitor and you're fine. Hook it up to a decent HDTV and you're fine. Buy a tv one step box and you're fine. But do none of those things and then hook it up to a cheap HDTV to make matters worse, and how can you possibly be shocked that the resolution isn't as great as something designed to run on a variety of HDTVs?

I agree. This is the worst occurane of sheer ignorance on the topic being discussed that i've seen in a while. Not to mention a flawed and biased comparison in the first place, designed to make one come out on top regardless.

FYI the 8600GT outperforms ALL 7 series nvidia cards in COD4 and it also performs on the same level in terms of performance to the 360 and ps3 version.Sorry but you lose.Go see gamespots COD4 guide if you dont belive me.

No you aren't comparing the PS3 and "the PC" on the same level. You're comparing YOUR PC'S CARD to the PS3. Not PCs in general. Not PC gaming. Just your PC. And it just so happens that your PC has a mediocre GPU, which you're hooking up to a cheap HDTV with no hardware installed to scale the image appropriately.

What? So it's unfair to hook a PS3 up to a monitor because it dosen't include the necessary hardware, but it's perfectly fine to hook up your PC to an HDTV despite not having any scaling hardware built in? Are you honestly trying to own yourself every time you post here? :?

An HDTV is treated as an LCD under the Nvidia Drivers, so you can enable nvidia SCALING, which in turn gives you different options on how to upscale your 720p rezed game to the 1080p monitor.

this thread has been in massive FAIL since the begining.

Btw the 8800GT sold 2 million since it's release, add the additional 2 mill from ATI's 3800's and you have 4 million + people who bought a mid range card that can stomp the crap out of the PS3/360 within just a 3 month period...but but PC gamings dead!
