So i took my secondary PC with an 8600GT to my friends place who has a 42" 1080p HDTV and ps3.So we first loaded the ps3 version and played the first level for some time. Then we connected the PC to the HDTV and loaded up 720p resolution cuz 1080p is too high for the card just like the ps3 with 2xAA and god it looked so bad simply terrible.

You know why?Because PC's lack a scaler chip.LMAO:lol: .So for the game to be played on that PC i would have to buy a 720p HDTV or a lower res LCD whereas with the ps3 you dont have to worry about this matter.

Hermits that is simply epic FAILURE.Sorry.:(

lol 8600 ??? bad card. The ps3 has basicly got a nvida 7900, or on the same level and that beats the 8600. The 8600 is a mid range card. So you compare it with the ps3 which is made just for games with a pc running a 8600 which deals with a ton more stuff. Yup sounds fair to me.

You do realise that the PS3 is outputting at a 600p resolution native (1024x600), while the PC is outputting at 1920×1080 native

right?

Even outputting at a lower resolution on the PC would look just fine.

Seriously this is an epic fail.

The 8600GT is actually a low end card TC, and it is comparable to the 7900GT.

8800GT is mid range, 8800GTX/Ultra is high end.

Not to mention the PC version of COD4 has much higher texture details ect.

Hell i know this all first hand I played through half of COD4 on my 360, and own COD4 on PC.

Any one who says the 8600 is better than the console GPU in terms of playing games is wrong. The 8600 is a poor mid range card.
Damage control ??? nah i dont think so. The people that say the 8600 is better than consoles dont no what there talking about and dont understand pc hardware, because they must know that the 8600 cant handle high res because of its sepcs.

Here's your comparison:

8600GT 1280*1024 COD4 MAXIMUM QUILITY 40FPS!

CONSOLE 1024*600 60FPS... keep in mind this looks worse than the PC version and runs on a lower resolution.

And what are you talking about VGA res quality on a LCD of higher output? That makes no sense whatsoever. If you mean it wont display at full 1080p well, neither does the PS3.

Damn the ignorance of your own words is laughable.

Everyone is quite aware that Crysis is pushing the boundaries of hardware, and that the 8800 ultra is a monster card (let alone 8800 series) and only Crysis stresses them graphically.

Who wants to play just Crysis at full 1080? Its an unrealistic expectiation.

You are sounding like a lost cause. First it was COD4 and upscaling, now its pc upgrading.

I hope you dont mind me asking but what are you trying to prove here?... because if your trying to say that COD4 looks worse on PC than a console your sadly mistaken and from what you have done I formaly strip you of your rights to compare games since you clearly show know sign of logic when doing so, this is mainly to prevent future arguements of which will occur shortly after you submit your next topic.

I dont actualy believe there's an arguement here... unless you want me to perform a comparision of UT3 using a PC monitor for both PC and console versions of the game and using full AA and the highest most possilble resolution an ULTRA can use on a 24" widescreen monitor.

Your comparison is flawed and I highly doubt that for one minute its unbias.

I find it hard to believe that CoD4 looks better on the PS3. Especially coming from what it looks to be an extremely bias opinion. Why don't you give us some screens to prove the "point" your trying to make?

Tech_Guy_2

No you are getting an inferiour image in general - if you run it on a 720p TV or 1080p Either way its a inferiour picture - as its in 600p native.

You dont HAVE to play in the native res of the LCD with PC games. Where did you get that argument from? You can simply play at a lower resolution. I dont see Nvidia putting a gun to my head demmanding me to play games at the native resolution on high res monitors / screens. Its the same with console games, many of which are outputting at lower res.

As for your final point, no the PC version is running at the native res, you would be better off just running the game at 720p, which would have a better image quality (on a 1080p TV), and keep the high FPS and maximum detail settings, with some anti analysing for good measure.

Either way the PS3 version looks worse, so I dont see why you keep trying to prove otherwise.

Its just fact, as a 'tech guy' you should (hopefully) know that.

System wars see for yourself.PC gaming FAILS.Period.Tech_Guy_2

Tech_Guy_2

You dont get.I have a 1080P TV my PC is NOT capable of playing COD4 in that res just like the ps3.But the ps3 is pretty good at scaling whereas the PC is horrible.I am not saying that the PC version looks worse.I am just pointing out a "horrendous" flaw with PC gaming.

Thats an over exaduration... I dont know any PC gamer that plays on his HDTV, why?... becuase it limits you to 1080p and if you can afford a 1080p TV then why not a get a monitor that cost three times less and displays twice the amount of pixels.

Theres no problem here... your making a mountain out of a ant hill.

Firstly, you quoted yourself? Second, the sentence you're looking for is "My PC fails. Period." To say that all PC gaming fails because yours is a sack of monkey poo is just ludicrous. Lets see your PS3 play Crysis.

The ps3 version does not run in 1080p i know that. However it runs it in a way that even if you have a 1080p display you are NOT getting inferior image quality to those who have a 720p TV.

Whereas with the PC you HAVE TO play in the native res of the LCD or else you are doomed. With the ps3 and 360 that is not the case. You know it man it's an essential flaw in PC gaming which nvidia and ATI dont seem to care for cuz they know they will kepp milking the hermits to upgrade to play in higher res.

Just answer me one question.I want to be able to get the same graphics as the ps3 version on the PC playing in 600p on a 1080p HDTV?Can i?

skrat_01

You quoted yourself?

If anyone is failing right now its certainly not PC gaming. Period.

Ironic much?

No you have to play in "windowed" mode if you are not going to play in the native res.Upscaling reduces the image quality significantly to the point that you may not game at all.Whereas upscaling with consoles is pretty good.

If you deny this then well you dont know what you are saying.

Exactly. PCs dont fail; YOUR pc just fails.

Or you could just let the TV handle the upscaling, as most 1080 TV's have very good scaling chips inside anyway, becuase they have to deal with lower res content anyway.

What happens when i connect it to a monitor. What you are saying means that if you want to future proof your PC than you have to play on some expensive HDTV or some bulky CRT that will kill your eyes.

[QUOTE="Ninja-Vox"]Can we change the thread to "my PC fails in comparison to the PS3" - believe it or not there are rigs out there which are better than yours, which dont suffer from these issues.Tech_Guy_2
I have 3 8800GTX's in SLI in my main rig.LOL you are clueless.

My PC has a tv one-task. It cost $400, but it scales anything i plug into it up to 1080p, so any games running on my PC look just fine on my TV. Why you'd bother even using an HDTV with your PC with no equipment to make the required resolution adjustments is beyond me anyway; so yeah, your PC fails. Not PCs in general. Just yours.

So now you're saying PC fails because you hooked it up to a cheap HDTV? :| Do you not see the flaws in this arguement?

But the ps3 still managed to put out better graphics on the cheap HDTV so who wins?:|

I am not saying that this applies to everyone and all that but this is a big flaw with PC gaming and surely not everybody may get affected by this.

Well actually any LCD or Plasma TV should have some form of scaling inside. LCD Computer monitors having scaling chips inside, and the only place that you're really going to tell that it's been scaled is in small font text that computers use.

In game the difference is far less. Besides, GPU's can scale as well :?

That's just your opinion that normal PC monitors are good at scaling.I cannot stand the blury mess of scaling on a cheap LCD.

Lemme ask you something, TC. How much is an 8600GT compared to a PS3? ;)
