  • Star Wars: Battlefront
  • Star Wars: Rogue Squadron

"

Other excellent and beloved Star Wars games that didn't quite make our top list include games like Jedi Knight, Republic Commando, The Force Unleashed, The Old Republic, and Episode 1: Racer. The lack of Jedi Outcast, or any Jedi Knight game for that matter saddens me.

I did too. Not saying it didn't have its flaws, but its pacing and some of its characters were great, if not better than the first.

I can't take any list seriously that doesn't have Dark Forces/Jedi Knight. What a complete joke not to put a single one there.

They could easily add a 10th game, like Dark Forces, KOTOR 2, or The Old Republic.

But anyway, here are some of MY top Star Wars games (which like some of my other lists, has changed over the years):

-Rogue Squadron series (Rogue Leader being the best)

-Dark Forces

-Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and it's Expansion Pack sequel, Jedi Academy

-KOTOR I (II is fun, but...)

-LEGO Star Wars II/The Complete Saga

-Battlefront II

-Shadows of the Empire

-Lethal Alliance (actually pretty fun for a handheld Star Wars)

They must not have played the Jedi Knight games then. The Jedi Knight games are by far the best Star Wars games ever made. The Force Unleashed is one of the worst games I have ever played in my life and they refer to it as a "beloved Star Wars game"...

TFU is so bad that is was actually considered non-canon by LucasArts BEFORE Disney's take over. (Which made all games non-canon).

Same. I couldn't begin to imagine how many hours that I've spent playing Jedi Knight over the years.

Best single player experience I've had is Jedi Knight 2 Jedi outcast.

There are quite a few better than the Lego Star Wars

Never played any Star Wars game or watched any of the movies. Maybe I should get started with the prequel trilogy, seems like the best place to start and give me an impression of the entire universe.

No Jedi Outcast and Republic Commando?

It's their list, but jesus fucking christ those are the two most important parts of any "best ever Star Wars game" list next to The Sith Lords.

Poor form not to include it.

All of the games on that list are dogshit compared to Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.

As far as I'm concerned those are the only two games that make you feel like a Jedi.

vEen with the restored content, the game still had many idea's and content that didn't come into fruition, including a sequel that would see the player go after the "real Sith" with Revan. For my moneys worth, it is the best starwars game followed by Dark Forces II.

Star Wars Racer is one of the best, easily. Dark Forces is a no brainer.

...Lego Star Wars is a joke.

...Phantom Menace is also underrated. Not sure I'd put it top ten but it is better than Lego.

Is that even debatable? It should be used as a test to detect whether or not someone has an extra chromosome 21.

its grossly underrated. In scope, it is just as big of an achievement as the other two games, and in some cases, better (but also worse). Its also the most grey of any Star Wars game, even more grey than KOTOR 2.

lol wut?

I'm playing KOTOR II (well, until Vampire - Bloodlines got in the way) and though I like it, I fail to see how it's in ANY WAY better than the first. Of course, my most disliked character in that game turns out to be a puppet character (ala Brian Griffin to Seth McFarlane) for one of the writers/developers who doesn't appear to be huge in the franchise at all.

The gameplay in both of these video games are identical i.e. watered down dnd mechanics, deeply unbalanced. Satisfactory at best, poor at worst.

Kotor II's writing, characters, story and story-telling is superior, without qeastion. The original Kotor relies on a plot twist essentially lifted from Baldurs Gate. Kotor 2's is more about the nature or man, as well as the force both good and evil, without hinging on a single aspect. it is similar in some regards to Planescape Torment - which is as about as great a compliment as can be given.

But is no where near as good as Planescape Torment and the story does have a lot of problems. Its just not told as well as the first game's story was. Plus, KOTOR 2, for all its talk about greyness, wants the player to be dark and light as possible. In fact, its MORE black and white than the first game, with the antagonist happening to be in the middle of the force.

And SWTOR not only shares much of KOTOR 2's philosophical aspects, but its more political as well. And many of the decision moments are FAR more grey.

Better than that second tier developer, Obsidian.
