@pyro1245: I'm sure we'll be seeing consoles do 8k before we see consoles doing 60fps
Sony's gotta get people to replace those obsolete 4K TVs somehow. Lol
Nvidia just won the system wars. It is time to close the forum guys.
How so? A 3070 will cost more than a PS5 or XSX alone. You won't actually be able to get one for that $499 starting price. That doesn't begin to include the cost of a CPU, motherboard, SSD, RAM, PSU, case, OS, keyboard and mouse.
You're looking at spending $1500+ to beat a $500 console in power.
So your playing your PS5 on a 32" 720p TV?...
Stop it.
Gaming on next generation consoles will to need a 55" at minimum 4K TV with HDR capabilities and a high end speaker setup.
Money... Sure, but then again you might actually be planning on gaming on a PS5 with a 42" 1080P TV so you never know as that is statistically the most common TV.
Money isn't a issue only for your console pleb mind its why you end up with cheap hardware that struggles to maintain 30FPS EVERY generation.
If you want to throw in the price of a TV then don't forget to throw in the price of your overpriced baby sized monitors and a desk.
Consoles are much cheaper and offer better bang for buck performance than PCs.
@Zero_epyon: Is this video just speculations? I don't care for DF and their speculative videos.
No he actually has one and shows what it performs like. But it's only % differences not actual frame times.
Every time someone says 4K, console gaming performance gets a little worse.
What do you think all this 8K talk is gonna do!?
We're dooooomed!
The difference between consoles and PC is that if you've got money the money, it's actually possible, lol.
That is absolutely insane. 68%-90% improvement in performance between 2080 and 3080.
@Pedro that's the gist of it lol
More like Ngridia, am I right? Anyone high five?
Rtx 390 vs rtx 380
36TF vs 30 TF
1500 usd vs 700 usd
So basically for 17 % of more performance you pay more than twice of an original price 700usd 🥶

Will it drive you mad that my monitor is actually 65" 4K/120Hz TV that cost ~2500 Euro?
Look we get it, you are just broke and jealous and wish you had a high-end PC. Crying on the internet won't get you one, though.
PHEW
The piggy backers can breathe a sigh of relief HaH
Though the cheaper of the cards looks interesting....what sort of price is a gaming pc with that?
$700-800 has been the sweet spot bang-for-your-buck when it comes to building a gaming PC; for about a decade now. I don't expect that to change.

Yeah console devs are slaves to the platform holders who are slaves to marketing.
And screenshots sell more than moving pictures.

And yet you're still port begging because PC has very few games that can take advantage of high end hardware.
Are you actually excited for another AssCreed and Watch Dogs? Of course you're not. You wish you had Ghost of Tsushima on your PC instead. Maybe in 5 years bud. Until then keep praying GG decides to fix that broken version of HZD.

I'm guessing the 14GB of faster GDDR6X has a lot to do with the price bump, that and it's the untouchable king of the GPU market once it releases.

Don't have to port beg anymore, Sony and MS are willingly putting their exclusives on PC now. Enjoy your budget CP77 expirence.
35.7 tflops for the 3090
29.8 tflops for the 3080
Next gen consoles just got slam dunked on.
I need one of these (not really but I'm buying a 3080 anyway).
@pyro1245:
Yea I doubt a 3070 gaming pc will be as low as 600 Dollars £480
Serious x would be ditched if that was the case....wonder if DF will do a console v 3070 comparison...
The 3070 beats a 2080ti according to Nvidia, so it's well beyond the consoles. The 3060 will be the real console comparison.

I said $700-800 is the peak of the performance/dollar curve for a gaming PC.
You'll have a great 60fps+ experience with med-high settings and you wont have to let console marketing dictate how you experience you games.
Was not comparing to consoles nor did I say anything about $600. The only people who care about matching the shitty performance of console to PC for the same price are console fanboys. Always has been.

Why are you so focused on the 3070, though? It's safe bet that the upcoming midrange RTX 3060 will outperform it. Now look up the prices of midrange parts when AMD's Zen 3 releases in Q4, and you can build a ~800€ PC, which will not just give you better performance, free online and much better deals on games, but also open a way to huge ass library of games, free giveaways, modding...

I guess he didn't get the memo saying Sony is approaching the PC market:

Some people just can't accept their plastic toys are DOA, huh?
@R4gn4r0k: I can't even wrap my head around the gains. I don't think we've seen something like this since the jump from PS1 to ps2 days. Biggest gpu generation leap ever maybe?

Yeah, all thanks to that 7nm. I can't wait to see RDNA2 too.
And rumors were saying that Nvidia cards would be on 8nm.
3080 for me. 3090 is way too big and the price is gonna be over $2000CAD. Gonna wait to see what EVGA's version is like.
I'm really tempted in the 3080 myself and the price is good.
But I mean if I wait a year they might do a 3080 super, or release a 3080 with more VRAM.
Waiting is good, but buying now is also good. Hahaha, dunno what to do :P
If you can wait for Ti because I have a hunch that 3090 is a replacement for Titan. Might be worth it because we may also get new HDMI2.1 TVs from Samsung.

I think I might buy a monitor (one of those ultra-wide thingamajigs) that would need the card before I buy the card, and those monitors cost like 1200 dollars themselves lol.
Either way I won't be upgrading for at least a year, just bought a 2080 early this year and I had a 980 before that which was still good.
Console kids hyping 9-12 tflops and PC is crossing the 40 tflops mark BEFORE the consoles launch. 20 tflops for under $500... And we all know Nvidia flops > AMD flops. These new cards are insane.
And those are AMD TFLOPs not Nvidia's. So, in reality the leap is even higher.
@R4gn4r0k: Same! I think Nvidia priced their 3080 at 700 because they know something about what AMD has. It's all very exciting.
@WESTBLADE85:
...
But it will be a pre build if I ditched the SXand they don’t come cheap... this build your own it’s a Doddle seems like a right f#%k on hah
Pre-built? Yuck. Hope you've got a tech-savvy friend who can do that properly and not going with the build of nightmares from retail.
I can't decipher what you said (bold/highlighted text), lol. Can to translate it?
Good price, but I still can't imagine what I'd even play on it. Might just keep my 1070 and wait for the 4070. Not sure right now. Gaming is boring.
3080 for me. 3090 is way too big and the price is gonna be over $2000CAD. Gonna wait to see what EVGA's version is like.
Yeah same here. Can't quite justify that 3090 price.
2080Ti being bested by a $499 GPU is nuts. The 3070 is gonna smoke next gen consoles before they even launch. Poor consoles. Poor AMD. They can never catch a break...
Yeah that really is some crazy shit with the 3070. Game over for AMD and next gen consoles before the gen even starts. Really pleased about those prices.
lol, overkill much? Does anyone have an 8K tv?
Throwing out my 4K as we speak
Bwahahaha xD
(btw all this 4K and 8K talk is with DLSS on btw) So it's not true 4K/8K either.
that right their. even current getting release cards cant push native 4k or 8k.
wonder if they will launch the 3080 ti when navi 20 launches? also no that is not 8k capable unless you are talking about sub 30 fps.
It's 8k capable at 60 fps with DLSS is what they said. Of course, this only applies to some games, so it's not overall 8k capable, but it is for some games.

Yeah... The extra video memory is nice, but probably a bit overkill unless you have other needs for the card other than gaming.
@pyro1245:
So my original question stands...how much do people think a 3070 gaming pc will cost
How much is a 3070 lol?
Maybe about $400, plus the price of a 3070.
Let's see.... 3070 TDP is about 220W. 16GB of RAM and at least a 500GB NVMe SSD....
That's one heck of a PC. I think if you are just aiming for 60fps you could wait for a 3060. If you have a really nice WQHD, high refresh rate monitor the 3070 is probably a good choice.

I am settling for the 3080. 3090 price is just too ridiculous. I was already pushing my comfort zone when I bought the 2080 Ti. I recently sold the 2080 Ti and it will cover the cost of the 3080 and I will still have money left over. So, I am getting more performance and HDMI 2.1 for no additional money. :)

Yeah 2080ti prices aren't serious anymore. The 3090 price even less so. These are the pricerange where they just make a ton of profit on, and only targeted at the richest... Or review sites who want to benchmark, lmao

How much did you get for the ti? I'm gonna fob my 2080, so i'm hoping I can get ~$400CAD. Hopefully someone a little more unwitting, as the 3070 will stonk it, but at twice the price.

But you are gonna sell your card after you get the new one, right?
Or are you thinking of selling it right now?
