Console kids hyping 9-12 tflops and PC is crossing the 40 tflops mark BEFORE the consoles launch. 20 tflops for under $500... And we all know Nvidia flops > AMD flops. These new cards are insane.
Lol, but what developer is going to make a game that takes advantage of those many flops?
Technically all of them... Because lost of next generation games have been confirmed 30FPS games on PS5/XSX with 60FPS options, meaning if you want to play those games at 60FPS with little to no visual compromise then you can on PC.
Maybe try use some logic next time, no offence but that has been thrown around for generations now and you console gamer's don't seem to understand that YOU game at 30FPS.
Have the third party card manufacturers announced any 3080s yet?
Yes, all of them. Check out https://www.guru3d.com
Sweet!
Sorry for beating you, bro ;)
I refreshed the main page to see if nobody else had main a new thread yet, haha
Sweet I was expecting the the RTX 3070 to cost more but $499 is the perfect amount for me. Hopefully when RDNA 2 cards come out they can knock another $50 off them. I hope there are mini itx/smaller variants of the 3070 by late November since that is when I plan to upgrade. Being faster than the RTX 2080 Ti is extra icing on the cake! I wonder what games these cards will come bundled with. Probably Call Of Duty Cold War or Cyberpunk 2077. Hopefully I'll be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 with 1440p DLSS 60fps with ray tracing maxed out on the RTX 3070.
I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't get any footage of DOOM ETERNAL RTX. I really wanna see that game raytraced. Seems like ID Tech is holding out on the RTX update till the next gen console versions come out. I was also hoping Nvidia would show the next classic PC game they're remastering with ray tracing.
I hope these cards perform well on PCIE 3.0 because I really don't feel like buying a new mobo. Then again it would allow me to upgrade to Zen 3.
Let me ask you this Ragnarok.
Is Nvidia getting Spiderman MM, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7, Demon Souls Remake this year or not?
Im about the games I always have been you done have em im out.
Nvidia just won the system wars. It is time to close the forum guys.
NVidia just saved the whole gaming summer, while Sony and Microsoft are still playing chicken on prices. 😂

Nobody gives a shit.
Wasn't he a PC fanboy a few months ago?
I'm wondering with their I/O improvements, how will the cards fare in a PCI 3.
Afaik, the only normal GPU that can saturate a x8 PCIe 3.0 slot is the 2080 ti, and it's not even by that much. I don't think PCIe 3.0 will be any sort of bottleneck for a single GPU.
Perhaps the new cards on PCIe 4.0 will allow users to do a dual GPU setup with a lower-end CPU that has less PCIe lanes. (by using two PCIe 4.0 x8 slots, which will each have the effective bandwidth of a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot)

Only because of vanilla Wow, it's all his potato can run.
Lol, but what developer is going to make a game that takes advantage of those many flops?
Aren't the Nintendo plebs the ones who always come up with such stupid "you don't need so much power" statements and now the Sony crowd has to sink so low, too?
LMAO
That's it, I'm getting the 3070.
Sure, it will only run at equivalent to PCIe 4.0 8x on my current mobo, but screw it. Future proofing.

1. You don't need a super expensive graphics for that.
2. Developers are going to be making games for for all gamers. Frame rate improvement doesn't equal better design. Pretty simple to understand even for us, even though I'm a PC gamer too 😅
@WESTBLADE85: It’s Cows and Lems that hype power every generation. Nvidia hands then their tails every year. This is an exceptional butt whoopin though. Xbox and PlayStation should pack it up. Those consoles just got smoked months before launch and AMD doesn’t have an answer in sight...
8gb is bad for a 500 buck card,
10gb is bad for a 800 buck card
2090 seems like a solid card for 1500 its laughable.
I think a lot of people will go team red next generation, or nvidia will introduce new cards that drop the prices. 16gb or lower v-ram = laughable at this point for next gen cards.
You do realise that both consoles come with 16GB unified ram which use 4-6GB just for the OS... Those consoles have 9-10GB actual VRAM at their disposal.
Memory bandwidth and actual GPU performance matter FAR more now than ever before, we had that spike in VRAM usage because developers were transitioning to higher resolution textures for 4K, its going to plateau now and pretty much has to think about it.
The same thing happened when we transistioned to HD textures we went from 128-512MB VRAM to 1-3GB VRAM... Then for 4K we went from 1-3GB VRAM to 4-8GB VRAM.
Since they are working on DLSS and the RTX 3070 is targeting 1440-4K 8GB is more than enough for the next 3 years.
The Bandwidth and raw power was what needed the boost for those resolutions along with RT core's.
Nvidia's has hit it out the park, the 3080 at 10GB with up to 2x the power of a 2080... Yes please.
Navi (RDNA) as a architecture cannot compete with Turing let alone ampere so I wouldn't hold your breath on that statement... They would need a 100 CU GPU to touch a 3080, as a XSX is 52 CU's and hits close to 2080 performance.
100 CU's?... perpair for a AIO 2 GPU type of monster that will overheat if a warm fart is let out in the same room. AMD is DOA.

Time to replace my goody good 2070 for the 3070 for the right price beating out 2080Ti was a surprise. That GPU is perfect for my 1440p/144Hz monitor. $500, you can't be that price. Gotta love Nvidia as they are the Holy Grail for gaming PC.

I thought he was a Switch fanboy weeks ago? I can't keep up with flip-flop fakeboys.
I hope the fact that i'm still rocking PCIe3.0 isn't gonna screw me, but I think i'll be fine. With this 3080, i'll upgrade from my 7700k next year.
I think it's backwards compatible. Probably won't see much of a boost until you do though.
What are you upgrading to? For now that's one of the things AMD has over Intel.

That's almost twice as much bandwidth as a 2080 ti can do.

AFAIK, and someone seemed to confirm above, that even the highest-end cards aren't close to maxing out the bandwidth of 3.0, so I think it should be good.
I'm tempted to go AMD for the CPU side, but i'll wait-and-see what intel have at the time.

It really hurts that vastly superior versions of Sony's exclusives are heading to PC, right?
Now you can feel the pain of all the Xbots since 2016.
I am torn between the 3080 and 3090. I will have to wait on benchmarks to make a final decision.
My wallet tells me the 3090 is a no lol.
I was going to settle for a 3070 if it made sense financially but the 3080 is looking like an awesome deal right now.

What?...
1: Yes you do, in order to have as little as a no compromise experience you do need to have the best GPU, while 60FPS is doable you CLEARLY missed the mark that even console's have those options but with sacrifices to visual quality.
2: Oh boy what a clown now this isn't about power and graphics... NOW your spinning it to design?...
GTFO.
Developers don't design games based on power, they are no limited by power when it comes to designed games they are limited by their creativity.
This is a GPU... It will offer better performance, up 2X the performance of current GPU's for the same price.
One thing that should be easy for you to understand also is that some of us game on big TV's and have VR setups... The more power the better.
Also stop it... Your comment failed quicker than a 17 year old 140lb guy trying to pick up a super model and now your spinning it to creativity.

I don't mind spending if the benchmarks are favorable. Until then, I am in the planning to get mode.
PS: My applications would be game development and CG, and less about playing games.

How so? A 3070 will cost more than a PS5 or XSX alone. You won't actually be able to get one for that $499 starting price. That doesn't begin to include the cost of a CPU, motherboard, SSD, RAM, PSU, case, OS, keyboard and mouse.
You're looking at spending $1500+ to beat a $500 console in power.

$470 for a 50% performance bump over a PS5, stop crying. Don't know why you're even talking about the 3070, a 3060 will beat the hell out of the PS5.

$499 in the US. And what are you going to do with a graphics card and no other parts?

I'm going to put a 3080 into my already high end PC. Listen, enjoy your PS5, nothing wrong with it. These GPUs are for people who want a more luxury gaming experience, which you're clearly not in the market for.
That is absolutely insane. 68%-90% improvement in performance between 2080 and 3080.

So your playing your PS5 on a 32" 720p TV?...
Stop it.
Gaming on next generation consoles will to need a 55" at minimum 4K TV with HDR capabilities and a high end speaker setup.
Money... Sure, but then again you might actually be planning on gaming on a PS5 with a 42" 1080P TV so you never know as that is statistically the most common TV.
Money isn't a issue only for your console pleb mind its why you end up with cheap hardware that struggles to maintain 30FPS EVERY generation.
