For a sec I thought PS4 was going to catch up to the number 1 selling system this gen... now Im not so sure. 2016 seemed to be a real solid year for Nintendo and their fans.... I think 2017 could even be bigger.

Nintendo hardware being sold out has more to do with them being idiotic and not increasing supply to meet consumer demand. They literally said they expected Pokemon Go to move 3DS units and when that happened they were taken by surprise. Considering this has always been a problem with Nintendo hardware, you have to wonder whether the company just does this on purpose to bask in the "3DS sold out everywhere" headlines.

Bad quality and people own multiple 3DS, it is not 70m userbase:P

Of course you would laugh at handhelds. I suppose when the Vita crashes and burns, you have to do something to ease the pain, such as pretending handhelds don't matter.

But just to let you know, the 3DS is still the top selling system this generation. So, handhelds can be successful in a mobile-dominated market. But there is some light at the end of the tunnel. The Vita might outsell the Game Gear.

Of course, if it does not, then it will be the first Sony console to lose to a Sega system.

Little history and math lesson for you.

The PS2 sold 155 million units in its lifetime.

At last count, the PS3 was at 80 million

155 Million - 80 Million= A difference of 75 million units.

So, the PS3 sold 75 million fewer units then the PS2 did.

The lesson here? The PS3 has a much sharper decline in sales from its predesscor then the 3DS did.

Oh, and one other thing. It took the PS3 8 years to reach those numbers.

So, why are you laughing at the 3DS again? If we want to call 70 million bad and laugh at the drop in sales between the 3DS and DS, then the PS3 did even worse judging by your metrics.

I don't have time for them or even other portable games on cellphones. LOL @ you thinking I give a shit about the Vita because it's a Sony device. @iandizion713@KBFloYd I wasnt reaching I made a googling mistake the ps4 was released in 2014 in Japan. Reachings is comparing a system released in Feb 26th 2011 to a system released on Nov 29th 2013. So 2 years and 9 months... basically 3 years anyways
