2K just announced XCOM 2, will be a PC exclusive, moddable

It appears that those ADVENT teasers had nothing to do with Bioshock.

And it actually comes to Mac and Linux (SteamOS), too.

Today, IGN First officially announces that the game 2K hinted at is in fact Firaxis Games’ XCOM 2, a full sequel to 2012’s critically acclaimed XCOM: Enemy Unknown and a continuation of the now 20-year-old legendary turn-based tactical squad combat series, which will be available exclusively on PC this November. Watch the debut trailer above for a glimpse into a future where the aliens are in control of the Earth, and XCOM has gone underground to fight to overthrow their Advent government. This new guerrilla force will face more powerful enemies in unpredictable combat scenarios as they fight to turn the tables on a technologically superior enemy.

Xcom involved very basic thinking, selling very poor on consoles most likely.

Sounds like (as predicated), greedy publishers abusing modding to get made DLC with profit, for doing nothing.

As soon as Valve brought fourth this concept they came out of the woodwork and salivated at the opperunity. Supporting themselfs, more like.

You're mixing a turn-based strategy game with a third person shooter.

It'll be on console if it gets good reviews.

XCOM sold over 2.5 million according to steamspy on PC. The console probably didn't even hit a million combine.

Awesome, I'll be having some of that! Surprised it isn't going to consoles and the last one seemed to work OK on a gamepad. Either way I'd grab it on PC but a shame people will miss out.

The order actually sold like crap. For a first-party console exclusive, that is.

Well, this is great news. X-Com was one of the better games of last gen.

Shitaku's article is less about the announcement of the game and more about the 12 year Ron Weasley journalist complaining it's not coming to his console.

I've always loved Xcom but couldn't quite get into the reboot. Maybe it was the UI? Fingers crossed this one produces the goods. Not quite Day One but if the reviews are good I'll buy it.

It's not necessary but possible. XCOM:EU sold roughly 3 million on steam alone not even counting the expansion. Which is apparently A LOT more than the console versions.

Just goes to show how out of touch this chump was.

Did the First (then) third person Xcom even hit 1 mil?

Kind of a slap in the face for those who bought it on consoles. I never knew about Xcom until I played it on ps3 became one of my favourite games.

Yeah, I noticed. But IGN guy already said that according to Firaxis, no future Console version is planned. More details in next story. Probably due to sales of last game and better gameplay quality like Shadowrun Hong Kong.

Jesus the PC exclusive list (not including small games) is ludicrously larger than any one Consoles now.

Well, if this was the case PC wouldn't dwarf consoles in good+ reviewed exclusives. Some stuff just doesn't work well on consoles.

Would be shocked if there isn't a port at some point, but day one for me!

Firaxis doing what Firaxis do best, PC games that are not influenced by console.

Great news for the PC community. I never played the 1st one on consoles , so I don't know the magnitude of awesomeness that is felt amongst the PC crowd. With that in mind, I highly doubt that the console community will miss this, especially this year, and next, seeing that console will be getting a lot of software love in between.

I mean, it's a given, but there is just a bigger audience on PCs for these kind of titles.

Also, mod support from day 1. That's just awesome.

But then why not just release the console version with the pc version? Can't wait to hear the reason for this being exclusive

The console market have received, and will be receiving a lot of software this year, and in the next. Also, I'm talking from a perspective of owning ALL 3 consoles.
