Sonic's Biggest Ups And Downs?

I feel like 06 was his biggest down.

Sonic was up in the original Genesis trilogy, then went down during the Saturn years. Went up a bit when the two Adventure games came out for the Dreamcast, then the Dreamcast died and he was down. Then he coasted for a couple years then went waaaay down with Shadow and Next Gen followed by a small climb up with Secret Rings and the day stages of Unleashed and now perhaps going up again with Sonic 4.kbaily

This sounds just about right, and it looks like Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be the biggest climb for the series in years if they do it right. For me, though, the biggest downs of the series were Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic and the Black Knight. They just introduced new concepts that proved to be frustrating.

Ups: Genesis trilogy

Downs: Sonic 06, Shadow the Hedgehog, Secret Rings, and Black Knight.

Secret Rings ALMOST got Sonic back and so did Unleashed. But, still after Sonic 06, I don't know why Sonic continues meeting females humans... Aren't you still uncomfortable about that even though we have no idea if Sega learned their lesson? I've played just a little of Secret Rings, but didn't move forward. Never had Black Knight and I don't want to.

Ups: Genesis Series and Sonic CD

Downs: Every other game

Even more downs: Doomsday Zone level in Sonic and Knuckles (it introduced the whole "you can only be in your super form when you're on the final level" idea).

Biggest ups and Downs

Ups: 3 Genesis games plus Sonic and Knuckles,Sonic CD and the 2 Adventure and Rush games as well as Advanced. Also his appearence in Brawl.

Downs

Well the biggest is Sonic Labrthyn followed by Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis that port is an absoulte joke. Sonic 2006,Sonic Underground,Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic R and Sonic 3D Blast.

Yeah a lot of fans hated the transistion when Sonic Adventure came out. Even Game Overthinker said "It should be all animals like in the Genesis days. No more humans. No more developed cities. It's incongruous and sloppy. Sonic looks stupid hanging around regular humans (shows Sonic X screen with human characters Xed out) and looks even stupider trying to f*&% one of them! ahem."

Great games: Original Sonic series and Sonic CD

Very good games: Sonic Adventure series, Sonic Unleashed, 8-bit Sonic series, Knuckles Chaotix, Sega All-Stars Racing

Decent games: Secret Rings, Black Knight, Sonic Advance series, Sonic Rush series, Sonic '06

Mediocre games: Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Rivals, Sonic Spinball, Flickies Island, Sonic Riders

Outright bad games: Sonic Shuffle, Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Drift, Sonic R

And don't forget Drift two netting a 5.0. :P

I mean even the GC version of Shadow and Next Gen had SOME redeeming qualities next to those giant piles of suck.

Yeah, but as I said before, while making Labyrinth they were high.

sonic's biggest up was during the mega drive days as well as sonic CD.

his biggest down, for me, it probably was Sonic 3D blast.
