What was the main reason why you purchased a PS3 ?

what was that main objective that made you purchase your PS3 ? Was it that first Sony Exclusive ? Or was it the blu ray compatability that you knew was going to be a benefit in the long run ?

Well, mines was Metal Gear Solid 4, the square enix exclusives (that never happened with a lot of other disappointments :lol: ), Backwards Compatability, and free online service. When I found out also that the Elder Scrolls series was coming to the PS3, I had nothing to worry about. IF you personally ask me, that was one of the best things for the PS3.

Only had one reason, Metal Gear Solid 4. :DMethodManFTW

MGS4 and Heavy rain

1- Free Online Service, PlayStation Network.

2- Great value for long-term purposes, Blu-ray and up-gradable HDD. Also Multimedia Hub since its launch. In my opinion the XMB is great for such purposes and it doesnt need a "revamp" I mean it is pretty much the fastest GUI out there.

3- The Controller, my hands are relatively small (like the Japanese) so a DualShock3 fits firmly in my hands (almost).

4- Generally most PlayStation exclusives are varied since the PSOne days and Sony is still the same on PS3.

5- Back when i bought it in March 2010, i felt it was better value for the money i am paying.

I trust Sony's product, It had a blu-ray player, and I was hoping one day a new GTA:Vice City game would be made. which has not happened.

why i purchased Ps3?? mm I have seen this question many times on this form for the last 6 years .. and each time i answer with a different answer, when i bought my ps3 back in 2006 it was because it had the latest Tech and due to its blue ray compatibility( at that time buying a separate blue ray device will cost you a fortune) but now if you ask me why would you buy i Ps3 my answer will be because of the exclusive games and free online gaming.

Anyway Ps3 is considered to be old now due to fast advancement in graphics technology.. my galaxy s3 games looks amazing when i compare it to my ps3 games graphics, its time for ps4 to hit the market its been more than 6 years now and with the rapid increase in soft wear and hardware development it should not took that long to launch it or at least announce when it will be launched.

haha i think it was because i wanted to play GTAIV and Rainbows Six: Vegas but at the time i only had the wii, so, i obviously couldn't.

Exclusives

First one: MGS4, Final Fantasy XIII:P, GTA4, GOW3, Oblivion

Second one: Skyrim, FFVS and TLG:lol:

I think the biggest reason I got the console was because I knew what I was getting. A solid gaming console. Sure it can do many other things, but I buy a video game console to play games nothing more.

To play GTA IV and it's a game I never bothered finishing since there was so many other great games to play.

I was a bit of a Playstation fanboy back when I bought it in the 9th grade. At that time I was also interested in a lot of the exclusives that were coming out, like God of War 3, Infamous, MAG, and others.

Reasons:

• When PS2 on it's heyday, most of games I like were made in Japan games.
• PS2 exclusives I like were made in Japan.

Therefore, I picked PS3.

It turned out very disappointing for first few years. At least things are a bit better now. On positive side, I saved a lot of money cause my PS3 game library is much smaller than PS2's.

MGS4 and GOW3 everything else was pleasant bonus.

The desire to play the first PS3 entry to the Yakuza series, Ryuu ga Gotoku: Kenzan!--as that's when I first heard about the PS3 being region-free. Tekken 6 (when it was a 'then' Sony exclusive), DMC4 and MGS4. I had to maintain getting my Yakuza, Tekken & DMC fix into the next console generation (that was my thinking then), lol.:P

Over 5 yrs later, no regrets. ;)

I am mainly a pc gamer but I love the ps3 exclusives ,And my gf prefers the ps3.

I wanted a blu-ray player & a game console in one. Then starting buying games and it went from there.

that is a good question, i think it was just because it was the next big thing, i'm like most of you out there a gaming addict, and needed the newest one out, i had been playing the 360 for a good while before the ps3 came out but when looking at what the ps3 offered, you can't complain,

i mean take the blu ray, it's the best blu ray player there is unless you fork out a few hundred for 1 but this was bundled in with a games console,

free internet, when considering you have to buy for a 360 a wireless adapter then pay them a charge i didnt have that sort of money.

for me the ps3 is the ultimate entertainment system there is.

I only had a Wii at the time and was looking for a system to go along with it. I chose the PS3 over the 360 because it had more excluisves and I do not enjoy the shooter genre. In the end, I found that multiplats are all I play on my PS3 anyways, but I feel I still made the right choice because of Blu-ray and free online.

The game that really pushed me to purchase the system was Arkham Asylum. A superb game

Between the PS3 exclusives, PS3/360 multiplats, PS2 HD collections and PS1 games on PSN, it was in every sense the best console out there to go with PC.

I almost got the Wii but Wii U comes out soon so I decided to wait on the Wii U for now.
