I don't know how people can ever say this guy is wrong. So he didn't think it was all that great, so what? Does that mean anything? NO. Do you still like it? YES. Do I still like it? YES. Move on. It's only an opinion.

I agree with you totally TC... For people that have not played any of the other Metal Gear games it is no where near a 10 for most of them, but for people that have enjoyed the other games this game is a 10 for most of them....
Metal Gear is a matter of taste... some people get it and some people dont....
I personally think you are dumb for buying a game based on a review anyway... especially if it is the fourth installment....
You just cant jump in expecting to feel the same type of joy from a game as everyone else most of the time...
But then again I guess that is why you like Halo so much....

you have you opinion, but i think you just didn't play the three previos MGS games so you didn't understand all the diffirent plot twists, and history behind the games, all i can say is as a fan of the previous games, this is by far my new favorite game

Im saying its wrong to say that you must play all the games in the series (1,2,3) in order to judge part 4. Its like going to watch Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull and not liking it , then someone telling you "you cant know if you like it unless you watch ALL the indiana jones movies first !!!"
it's not that you can't like or dislike it by itself, it's just that you would truly appreciate what a great game it really is if you had played through the previous games, because then you would understand all the relationships and everything else between the characters
This game was very well made BUT when you spend 75% of the time watching cut scenes , then this is more of a CGI movie than a game.

Let me ask you one thing. Have you even played any of the other MGS games?? B/C it seems to me you clearly haven't otherwise your scores would be much higher
Actually no this was my first Metal Gear Solid game....but the review should be based on each game alone, not compared to older versions. THe bottom line is Metal Gear failed to deliver. I bought this game because it was rated "10" but paying $60 for a Blu Ray Movie just wasnt worth it IMO
I thoroughly enjoyed MGS4 and think it deserved a 10. Everyone however, are entitled to their opinion and if you didn't like it, that's cool. Like others have said, it appeals to those who really like the MGS series, or really like a strong story telling element in a game.
