What is the consensus now?
Most on here abandoned this game after the IGN review thread. Now that GS gave it an 8.5, how does the majority feel now? I would like to play it, possibly buy it, but most likely a rental still.

I realized soon after I made a post saying it was like Driver 3. That that was a bad comparison. I should have said the open world was like Driver 3 but the gameplay and missions were not. I was still wanting to give it a shot, I just thought the open world may not be as amazing as other games, which to a lot of people (that I know) that's almost the only reason they get an open world game is for the world, I personally really enjoy the missions and the open world I take as a bonus. So yes I'm still wanting to play the game.
EDIT: Also something I forgot to mention, I am actually a huge fan of Driver 3 and I still sometimes go back to that game, so when I said Mafia 2's open world was similar, I was actually excited to play more of it.
Again, I REALLY hope this was just the 360 version review because, is so, I lost some respect for GS for doing a Copy and Paste review and not touching on the difficenceys of the PS3 version.

Is this supposed to another one of those crappy PS3 ports then? Why does this happen to us PS3 folk anyway?
edit: or rather why has this problem not been resolved? crappy ports i mean. The PS3 is 4 years old enough is enough.
If someone saw the IGN review then no longer wanted the game, then saw the gamespot review and wanted the game again... they are an idiot.. We have our own brains people, the difference between a 7 and 8.5 is not much, think for yourself. What is the consensus now?

My point to this thread.
I find it interesting how much people let reviews effect their choice on whether or not to buy/rent/play a game.

The dev themeselves said the PS3 version is visualy inferior. Yet they get off scott free in these reviews because all these reviewers are doing is just playing the 360 version, and assuming the PS3 version in the same. Or maybe they dont wanna be bothered to play the PS3 version.
I plan on buying it when it's much cheaper.
After playing the demo, I just got the feeling that the game could have been so much more...which isn't worth full price in my opinion.
Doesn't make a difference to me, still not a $60 IMO.Flame_Blade88
what he said I feel like there are only a handful of games that are worth $60
***sidenote. In the video review, Kevin DOES mention that the graphical differences in the PS3 version are minor, both versions are just as good as the other. just a heads up.

hmm, internet **** stromhints otherwise. Its missing features like grass and stuff like that in the PS3 version. But I did play a demo of it and I thought it looked ok.
I planned on getting this game regardless of reviews. I absolutely loved the first one, and I played it on the PS2 which was the inferior version. I could care less how it performs because for me this game is all about the story and setting. I love mafia/gangster movies, and this series is the epitome of the genre in videogame form.
After IGN review i decided not to buy, after that i saw gs review with kevin and because i trust him more i decided to buy the game.johny300Lol im sorry but that is kind of sad, you should not let reviewersdecide for you to buy/not buy a game. I mean don't get me wrong reviews are a great bit of help to sway you to a side but in the end you should be the one that tells yourself if the game seems worth the purchase. Besides with all the advertisment for Mafia 2 on gamespot im not surprised it got an 8.5.

It could be that he has read many of Kevin's reviews and come to the conclusion that he and said reviewer have similar taste in games. Therefore it would't mean the reviewer is making the decision for him, but rather recommending the game through a conditioned process of the reader finding himself in agreement with much of the reviewer's reviews. Of course I don't know if that's the situation though.
