I've racked up about $250, and I plan to buy a used PS3 on Ebay. Should I get a 120gb or 160gb? I plan on having SOME gaming demos and some music on my ps3, along with like 10 games. I want it to last a long time, so is there something the 160gb has that the 120 doesn't? Right now I'm looking at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/SONY-PLAYSTATION-3-PS3-120GB-GAME-CONSOLE-CECH-2001A-/350475515751?pt=Video_Games&hash=item5199f7f767#ht_1976wt_932 Thanks!

The PS3 is an awesome system, enjoy it, and take good care of it when you get it. :P

To be honest, 120GB PS3 is more than enough space, the only difference is that 160GB has more space available.

Might want to wait a couple more months, it's been almost 2 years since a price drop so you'll likely be able to get a brand new PS3 for $200 this holiday.

If you want it to last a long time I suggest you buy it new, as you never know the condition the used PS3 has been in. The PS3 might have had YLOD - Yellow Light of Death which means it died and wouldn't work and someone had to fix it.

I'm with these guys, you should wait until that price drop happens. Much better idea to end up with brand new slim!

When is Gamescon? And no way will the PS3 be dropping to $199. Maybe $249 but definitely not $199 anytime this year.

Don't buy them used... Only get a slim used if you are buying a used one at all. Hit the bargain bins and get Resistance: fall of Man that game is awesome in my opinion.

Buy it new. The $50 you're saving is not worth the risk of hardware failure or getting screwed with a banned system.

Hey just a word of advice since I just got my PS3 3 weeks ago. I'd recommend buying it new first of all, and secondly look for a retailer adding an extra incentive with the Ps3. Thirdly, there is a rumor floating that the PS3 will have a price drop in September. But I didn't want to wait till then, and I'm guessing you don't either.

I got a deal at Gamestop where if you bought a 160 GB New PS3 Call of Duty Black Ops bundle, it came with a 50 dollar giftcard. So I payed 300 bucks for over 400 bucks of extra stuff. That deal's over, but if your patient another retailer should offer an incentive with the Ps3. I used cheapassgamer.com to look for deals. It's basically a website run by "cheap ass" gamers lol. They scour retailers looking for great deals on videogames. (like God of War is only 14.99 at Gamestop new now!)

So, I'd recommend buying it new, get the warrenty and look for agreat deal where you can more than just the PS3, but at the same price as just a Ps3. Also, buying a console used is just risky business. I learned the hard way. I bought a used PSP on ebay TWICE. Both times I got a product that was not in good shape or anywhere near like was described in the picture. Yes they both worked, but I was severly dissapointed with what I bought. Just a word of caution if you do end up going that route.

I'll echo the buy it new sentiments. Buying used games is fine. Buying a used console, on the other hand, is an expensive risk that's just not worth taking.

Enjoy and welcome to a new culture of gaming! By the sounds of it, the 160GB would do you nicely if you plan to store a fair amount of content and media on it. With that being said, an earlier poster stated the price is likely to fall come late 2011 and I'd have to agree with that. It seems very likely the console will face a price drop to draw in another cluster of people who still find the price a little too much. Hope this helped.

If you're willing to spend $250 for a used console, you're best bet is to save another 50 and buy new.

Get the PS3 160GB slim. The 40GB does make a difference. Even I have found at way to fill up my HDD on my PS3120GB, PS3GB and PS340GB. It is surprising how fast one can fill an HDD.

So it is best to go Big if you can. (I never thought I would use up my HDD space so soon) I hardly download anything just mostly fill my PS3HDD with game saves and updates.

Congrats on getting a PS3. A great first console.

Buy it new for the warrenty.

100+ GB of space is more than enough.

Enjoy, it's a great system.

Other than uncharted and god of war the ps3 has nothing really going on, I have all the supposed best games, resistance, both uncharted, both killzone, little big planet, infamous and all three god of war, and uncharted and god of war are the only two series I like, the others are bad to ok, but I have played almost 70 games on my 360, and am still going strong.

Rent the following :

Demon Souls

Heavy Rain

Infamous 1&2

MGS4

Motorstorm

MAG

Also there's nothing wrong with just using your PS3 for multiplats, some of them are better or worse but %99 of them are the same thing on both consoles and PS3 is cheaper to own for people with a limited budget.

Not interested in those games, and I said I have infamous, and actually about 95 percent of the multiplats look and run better on the 360.

The ps3 is a great console to own. I'd recommend just saving an extra $50 to buy one from a store. I wouldn't recommend buying one from ebay and buying one used at that. Your decision though.

i didn't know that in the world of gaming that it almost looked as if like a religion where they step up and stand for them.

also almost appears like racism, like you can't mention xbox360 or nintendo here because it's a "consolist or consolism" I bet that is the new term.

after all, why not mention things about other consoles? a true video gamer is never a fanboy of either system or company but an individual who appreciates games. A real gamer has the right to dislike or like a game based on their opinnion it's because we have the will or the freedom to do so. . You can't force someone to like something they don't like. Thats right, It all in the passion of the will and also others.

Noob! Just kidding! But seriously, you will love the PS3. It's definitely a good console to buy, especially if it's your first one. Also, if I were you, I'd try to get a model that is backwards compatible.

Still, it's always better to buy electronics new rather than used.
