The PS1 games play because your PS3 can still play PS1 games. With PS2 support out of the new models, it won't be possible.

i have a little theory that i just came up with, sony has not said anything about a price drop for a while, also sony hasn't been doing much marketing have they. Maybe they need for one them to happen so that another thing can become more successful.

I mean say you got an ad for a ps3 exclusive, and then briefly afterwards you got a screen with someguy saying, only on ps3, now at $299. Also the fiscal year for 2008 was pretty poor so maybe they want to leave that as poor, and focus on 2009 itself making some good numbers that it can show off to the shareholders...

If Sony announces Kingdom Hearts 3 on March 31st, I would kill everybody who is in relations with it because the Kingdom Hearts story arc ended with Kingdom Hearts 2 and it would only be overkill by making a third game.

If Sony announced that a decent Ratchet & Clankspin-off would be developed by Insomniac Games on March 31st, I would do a backflip on ground because I have been able to land them as of last week.

The way I view it, There are two Ratchet & Clank series. The original series on PS2 (Ratchet & Clank, Going COmmando, Up Your Arsenal) the Future series on PS3 (Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, A Crack in Time) and the spin-offs on PS2/PSP (Size Matters, Secret Agent Clank, Deadlocked).
