I bought mine for all the exclusives like MGS4, and Killzone 2. And for the Blu-Ray.MasterCSSame here
i bought a ps3 since i also had a ps1 and 2, and also since i wanted mgs4 - (BIG FAN)
my bro also wanted a ps3 becuase of mgs4 and also GT5
my other bro wanted it for Bluray
and dadaaa! we are all happy with our purchase, i guess the extra stuff like free online and web browsing was like a gift hehe :D
I bought mine soon after the original 60gb models dropped to $500 from $600. I've always wanted one due to growing up with a ps1 and ps2, but watching that infamous killzone 2005 "gameplay" trailer made me want one even more. To this day, I'm glad that I decided to buy it. Although these price drops are making me wish I waited it out a bit more :P
If anything, videos of Killzone 2 gameplay will surely be enough to persuade anybody to get a ps3 :D
Actually I'm a RPG fan, so I'm waiting for FFXIII, Suikoden and others ... X360 stole some licences and made them crap so I don't regret not buying a X360
The choice was easy for me anyway, I've always had Playstation(s) as it's the platform where there's most variety (not 90% shooters/racers like on X360 or games for kids/family on Wii)

Well to be honest, I didnt buy the PS3 for a game/games. (but still cannot deny the attractiveness of some exclusives)
The reasons to buy PS3 is due to following:
1) It has Blu-Ray player
2) It has Wifi and HDMI
3) It is a reliable hardware as compare to other consoles
4) It has the best controller IMO
5) It is free for online gaming
But the most important thing is the GAME itself is region free means that I will not face any problem of game region compatible issue when I bring my PS3 back to my home country (except for blu-ray movies title, why cant Sony make them also region free??). Thats why after 2 weeks of thorough information research and consideration, I finally invested £300 to get the 80GB without PS2 B/C Bundle with 2 free games and some accessories on November last year. IMO I am so proud of my decision, I can say I never regret as a PS3 owner.
Well for me it was more of anticipation for god of war 3. i pretty much bought the ps3 so that when got of war 3 came out i could get it and i also bought it cuz there are some pretty good games on it.
Not exactly.
The main reason for me is because it is made by sony.
And I am really satisfied with my ps3, because it has so many great exclusives.
well I have stuck to one console, thats for the one-eyed fanboys I have had the 360 since its launch and always maintained I would buy a Ps3 when it came down in price and when the games started to get good
well that time came when MGS4 came out, in all honesty it was Heavy Rain that made me buy the PS3
