Final Fantasy X is probably the easiest to best and the most fun. If you don't care for graphics (and when i say "graphics" i mean it) then get Final Fantasy 7 or 8. The graphics, to me, are so bad (in 7) its just too hard to play now.
You really can't go wrong with any final fantasy game. I'd really recommend 10, 12, 7 and 8 (if you dont mind graphics for 7 and 8)
Seriously though, I've never ever met anybody that didn't know Roman numerals. I've known them for as long I can remember. Anyway, looks like FF 9 has the most votes right now when it comes to single game posts. And don't listen to anybody who recommends 7 and up except for 9, because they're "one of those" people. They started with 7 and don't want anything that isn't like it. Don't become like them. Play FF 9.FF: VII is your best choice.
(Final Fantasy 7 for you youngsters ;) )
ootp2003
if u want new graphics and all.. ff 12 and 10
stay away from x-2 (10-2) .. story leaves a lot to be desired.. gameplay is kinda fun though.
if u want the classics.. ff 7 and ff8.. didnt care much for the ff9
Unless you're a spicegirls fan, I'd steer clear from X-2, if you can get past the opening sequence, and thats a big "if" you'll be treated to a complete waste of time storywise.
If you're not going to play them all, I'd suggest these two:
what final fantasy game should i get? ive never played final fantasy before so i was wondering what is the most fun and not hard as im new to it. I_PS2_U
Starting out, try FFIX. It was a great introduction to the series for me. That or X. Try to find a light-hearted one before the more serious ones (VII, VIII, XII)
Start with FF9.
Then play, in this order, 10, 6, 8, 7, Tactics,5, 4, 2, Crystal Chronicles,10-2, 3, 1, 12
Since you haven't played any FFs and since the majority here is aiming for 7-12 I'd probably suggest picking the story your most interested in first. That's what FF is all about after all.
FF7-Cloud, a former soldier ,teams up with a group of people (like most RPG storylines) and basically his first mission is to helpblow up some reactors to piss Shinra Corp off and eventually at some point in the story Sephiroth appears and kills a few people here and there andthe wholestory is mostly focused on hunting him down.Because if nobody stops him from blowing up the world with a giant red meteor of doom, who will?
FF8-Basically a love story mixed wtih adventure and fantasy. Like 7 this takes place in a modernized world of technology where everybodys driving cars and packing heat.Your main weaponthe Gunblade is a weapon you'll use often since it acts as a sword and a gun where if you pull R1 like a trigger just when you hit the enemy you can do critical damage. Plus this game has some of the best animation I've ever seen in a PS1 game next to Koudelka (Normal Graphics as well as CG). Squall's Lionheart attack is just plain awesome.
FF9-Your athief who kidnaps the princess only to find yourself playing bodyguard for her and basically her mother is evil and you have to stop her only to find that the real villain is Kuja. (Don't worry its not a spoiler. You see a kuja during the 1st 6 hours of the game or so). The story is mean't to be dramatic, classy but at the same time its gotsome humor in it.
FF10--1st final fantasy in the series to feature voice acting and DeathMetal (a song called otherworld or overworld plays at the beggining). The gameplay is pretty easy overall because each character can be used to exploit specific weaknesses in the enemies defenses like Wakka can take flying enemies, Lulu can kill Jello looking enemies, & Auron can Penetrate Armored enemies just to name a few). You can also swap allies out of battle at any time without penalty which makes it easy to switch your near death members out for new ones. The story is your an athlete who gets warped to the future only to find that a monster called SIN has pretty much destroyed everything and everybody is living in villages again. Once every 100 years Summoners goes on a pilgrimage to find the Ultimate Aeon to destroy sin temporarily. The main character goes from athlete to bodyguard at this point as he protects a summoner name Yuna.
FF11-This is an online game. I'd hold off on this.
FF12-Everything is completely new gameplay wise. The story is about Politics & Power. The Archadian Empire kills your king and now rules over your homeland. As a thief you wonder into the palace to steal some goods only to get caught by real sky pirates who you team up with and eventually you team up with the princess of your fallen kingdom so thatyou can fight again'tVayne's Tyranny. BTW Vayne is probably the coolest boss ever, don't let his looks deceive you!
And yeah thats pretty much the short summary of the beginnings of these stories. Pick which one you think is interesting and try that.
7 is good...10 & 12 are overrated... 10-2 is better than 10!!
and FF8 is well...see for your self:

this review says it all...FF 8 sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FFVII(7) is excelent, but its from PS1 and the grafics are totally outdated
if you have a PS2 i totally recommend FFX to strart, its a great game
Final Fantasy from 1, 2 and 3 are for Nintendo; 4, 5 and 6 are for SuperNintendo; 7, 8, 9 and Tactics are for PS1 and 10, 10-2, 11 and 12 for PS2, but 11 is online so it doesnt count
there are versions for gameboy and PSP too but i recommend FF10 to start
whawt the difference between final fantasy X-2 and final fantasy XII????????I_PS2_UFinal Fantasy X-2 (10-2) is the sequel to FF10. Its kinda of girlish and I wouldn't suggest it to you unless your a fan of the series. So you should either get Final Fantasy XII (12) or FFX (10)
[QUOTE="I_PS2_U"]whawt the difference between final fantasy X-2 and final fantasy XII????????Shiggums
Really? FFX-2 is Final Fantasy Ten - Two. It's a sequel to Final Fantasy Ten (or X in roman numerals). FFXII is Final Fantasy Twelve. Totally different.
