your 5 most scariest games on the PC

Hi yea so as the thread title suggests, what are your top 5 scariest PC games you have played ( in no particualr order)? They can be atmospheric too, not "scary" in the sense that you started hiding :P

Honorable mention: Sneak King. What could possibly be creepier than  the Burger King mascot popping out of a trashcan and sneaking up on people. That dude gives me nightmares. "No! No! I don't want to wake up with The King!" *springs awake upright drenched in sweat*

no other game effected me I played avp after playing fear and clive barkers so for some reason it didnt really scare me

Thats the reason why AVP didnt scare you... After going through Undying, other "creepy" games arent creepy. I played AVP a year after it came out, and it scared the hell out of me. After that, I played Undying, and it scared me even more, specially that red-headed guy (one of the brothers of Jeremiah, or whatever his name was)

well...it's pretty hard to scare me with games,however,I think that the scariest game i had EVER played was F.E.A.R,some say it's not scary,well,i think it IS!

and to add some to the list:

4.though i don't think it's a scary game,so just to add to the list,DOOM 3^^

5.Return to castle Wolfenstein(yea,it's old and probably doesn't really scary,though it was kinda creepy at the zombie level the first time i played the game).

1. system shock 2 - the god of atmosphere, the game just conjures a perfect sense of isolation and an eerie, oppressive environment, as well as enemeies that sound so utterly wrong - it's as if they spent time trying to find the most disturbing, most unnatural sounds possible, then used them in the game... plus the random respawns on enemies means you can never feel safe, and often you'll turn just in time to find a wrench flying into your brain as a hybrid screams your flesh welcomes us! in that horrible unnatural voice

2. aliens vs predator - marine campaign - this is avp1, not 2 - i found the combination of extreme darkness, very quick, lethal enemies and the it's-out-there-somewhere-but-where? heart beat blip blip pulse of the motion sensor all combined to just screw with my head like crazy

3. operation flashpoint - not scary in the traditional sense, but the game tapped into my sense of self preservation (and fear is a product of self preservation, so it's very applicable) - the way enemies were very lethal, capable of killing you at extreme range made me fear for my life, every moment was an exercise in survival, and i felt like every moment may be my last - i spent large periods of time hiding prone in bushes, literally too afraid to leave my safe haven for fear of dying

that's it for me - i don't have a 4 or a 5 since we're just talking pc - the original silent hill scared me like crazy (it's my scariest game of all time), but it never made its way to the pc, and later installments in the series were quite tame by comparison... i don't find either of them even remotely frightening, but i guess i'll throw in f.e.a.r and doom 3

1.  Silent hill series.  I got the game from a friend, powered up my PS, started to play and after about 10 minutes I turned it off and never touched it again.

2.  AvP 1 and 2 (the marine campaign)

3.  Alone in the dark (i was about 10 i think when i played that game)

4.  FEAR (I hate little girls, or living-dead kids in general)

5.  Resident Evil (i was young when i played the first 2)

I dont know about STALKER cuz i didnt play it yet, but it looks scary.  Also Doom 3 wasnt that creepy to me.

The only game that made me jump out of my chair was

Early in the game...

that bathroom scene where it quickly flashes a reflection of you ...mommy!

Also a game that was scary...yet that kind of..wow wicked cool scary...

 I need to agree with that :D I jumped off the chair when the first fast zombie came in.

All of those games were highly atmospheric, some downright creepy.

Condemned by far kind of freaked me out. The part where you were in the house on the farm was it? but yeah going into the basement got to me just a little.

Yea sorry condemned was a great game although i played it on 360and i havent even seen it on the shelves for PC so thats why i didnt mention it.

AVP was scary and atmospheric...it was all about hearing that damn *beep.....beep....beep* on the radar. That crapped me up because you knew a dirty alien was around the corner, then the beep stopped, you were like...."oh crap". Great atmosphere there. Always keeping you involved and aware. I gave up due to dirty skidmarks and the fact that i started playing it on hard dfficulty and couldnt shoot shi*.

5-max payne (the part where you have to walk the blood line, and your dead baby screams in the back ground

definitely Undying, a statue covered in blood comes to life begging you to kill it and then proceeds to rip out its own heartomenodebander

Not to mention that part on the pool table room, if you used the Scry spell, you would hear the voices of two people, one of them killing and impaling the other with the poll cue... I sat static for about a minute after hearing that.

Unbelievable that nobody mentioned Call of Cthulhu yet, which is the most atmospheric and psychologically tense game I played since System Shock 2. 9types

I don't know if it was scary ,  but the game affected me a lot psycologically . The atmoshere and tension in this game is so vast that really ends up getting to you . Plus , it had some points that I will remember until I die (not saying anything else , if this topic is about horror in videogames , u MUST play Call of Cthulhu ,therefore I will not spoil it )

System Shock beats all really as long as you played it when it was released . Not really scary , but creepy and unsettling

Undying , the same as System Shock 2 but a bit easier to swallow than SS 2

Stalker , truly disturbing game (in a good sense ofcourse ) the enviroment was dark and depressing and twisted , it will be a game a lot of ppl will remember in 10 years from now , as SS2 that is . I don't think FEAR will ever be considered as classic .

And last (and apparently least ) the FIRST Aliens vs Predator , it was extremely hard ,u had to watch out all the time for aliens and it was a game that really has the best creature in film history : The Alien ofcourse .

I dont get ppl who say that DOOM 3 is scary . It is so predictable that u can bet that some monster will spawn there , and in 4 seconds time . 

I haven't played too many scary games, but to name a few that i've played.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R., I am currently playing it and it is my favorite game ever! i am in lab X16(second one) and it is creepy. didn't finish it on the first try.

Half-Life 2-ravenholm is kinda scary, but the zombies don't have guns like in stalker.

i guess quake 4,, but it wasn't really scary.
