As a single WW1 soldier amongst millions of others the weapons were as cheap as possible and very standard. Red Dead Redemptiion focuses on you as the single hero with all of the best stuff. Also RDR is set in quite a glamorous time period whereas there is nothing glamorous about WW1

And most soldiers in WW2 had K98s and M1 garands ... doesn't mean those are the only weapons we see in WW2 games either.
WW2 had more battles that a gamers would enjoy, WW1 had little. Anyway, thats a whole other thread on a whole other website.

I don't mind new WW2 shooters as long as they're all Wolfenstein (and by that, I mean WW2 with a twist)

I'm with you on that. Someone should come up with a semi-tactical BIA-like WW2 game with science fiction and the occult thrown in the mix.
