First PC Game? Can't really remember that far back... some of the 1st PC games I can remember is frogger, pong, airborne ranger, paratrooper, sopwith... I remember my 1st RTS (that made strategy my favorite genre), it was a game called Ancient Art of War and was made by Bruderbond (or something like that)...

Reading all the threads, I must be one of the oldest gamers to still walk the earth :). My very first PC game was Digger. Must have been 1983 if my calculations are right. I have played other games before that though (including Pong) but not on a personal computer. I have hardly missed a good title since then :).

Ancient Art of War at Sea!!! That was even cooler than the original... Ancient Art of War in the Sky was cool as well... I loved the bombing runs!

I know the feeling... I remember digger (and later dig dug) as well... I started playing PC games around about 1982/83 when I was still very young... you remember those first XT's with the Herculas (and later CGA) monitors?? :)

We got our first PC in 1987, (prior to that it was Atari or Pong).  The first two games we had were King's Quest and Jet Fighter.

First game I ever played was a great game called "Catacomb" on the Tandy 1000 in my Dad's shop. I was like 6 at the time...took me so long to figure out how to work that thing and play a game. I didn't even know what a game was...just that it was FUN!!! I'm proud that my little 6 year-old self figured DOS out. There was also this great helicopter game that I played with a joystick. The joystick was literally a box...with a stick...and two buttons...good times.jackalv666

I still have a Tandy 1000 and a joystick like the one you mention.  The Tandy 1000 works all right, but unfortunately, the joystick gave up the ghost about five years back.  I occasionally boot up the Tandy to play certain games that I only have on 5 1/2 floppies, like the original Pirates!  Though, to be truthful, I haven't started that computer up in about a year or two.  And yeah, I was a self-taught DOS user at about the same age as you.  I never thought one day I'd be proud of knowing DOS like the back of my hand before I was eight.

Some side scrolling shooter, can't remember the name of it, on an IBM PCjr. Wasn't too exciting of a game. Besides that, probably digdug or paratrooper.

It's hard to say really.  It would have to be a draw between Q-Bert or Pole Position for the Commodore 64.  I'm going to say as far back as I can remember, it would have to be Q-Bert for the Commodore 64.  Man that game ruled!:D

Those games don't count, it has to be a real game. Because, for example, you can play Tic Tac Toe with the paint program which is stupid.

I can't fully recall because that was long ago but I think it was either D-Quest (Great Dos RPG) or Pool for Windows v3, however the first game I really remember playing was Red Alert.  Only game I really enjoyed playing for hours on end.

First ever game would probably be oregon trail; first real PC game would be C&C Red Alert (Best RTS ever).
