Beta information

How do I get into the open beta?
The main way to get into the open beta is to pre-order either the standard edition, or the collectors edition of the game, from specially listed stores, which will get you the beta key in the pre-order box (while supplies still last).Also, if you are currently in the closed beta, you will automatically be given access to the open beta once it starts.Note that characters on the open beta servers will be lost once the open beta finishes.

What's this head start?
The head start allows players who have pre-ordered the game to begin playing on the retail servers, before the game is officially avaliable to retailers to sell.

Do I get anything else for pre-ordering?
Depending on where you pre-order, you'll recieve a special in-game item that you can use with your character. What you get depends on which store you pre-order with, so for more details, visit the pre-order information page here.

Game information

What sides are avaliable to play in game?
The two sides in game are Order (which are the good guys), and Destruction (which are the bad guys).

Which races are there avaliable to pick?
On the Order side, the avaliable races are Dwarfs, Empire, and High Elves. On the Destruction side, you can pick either Greenskins, Chaos, or Dark Elves.

What cIass can my character be?
Each race has three or four different cIass that are unique to that race, hence you'll need to be a certain race if you want to be a specific cIass. Each cIass in a race can be split into either Melee DPS, Range DPS, Tank or Support.

well since my post got deleted I'll make one here and keep it short and sweet. The game is worth buying, in the past 4 years with the games i've played GW, LOTRO, AOC, WOW i would say WAR has the most potential to be great. WOW i played for ages and loved it, tried to get back in it recently couldn't at all. The others were ok but WAR is already more polished than AOC is now. The graphics while not great and 100% functional and with massive PVP battles you can't have great graphics or nobody could run the game properly. THE PVP is outstanding, it is like WOW battlegrounds (the scenarios in WAR i mean) but much more engaging. The wow battlegrounds i hated to play and barely would even to grind gear I wouldn't play them (2000 hours logged no honor gear). The WAR scenarios as i said are similar but for some reason i find them really enjoyable. THE OPEN RVR is great as well I'm only tier 2 so it's hard to really say how this will pan out but i've already been in some good battles.

get the game, you won't be dissapointed.

can i make a request to everyone to not mention WOW or any comparison in this thread, yes i realise i just self-pwned by mentioning it.

Gonna love this game, whoever wants to roll destruction i'll be there to helps.

Will not rush to get it, but on the day of the release, I will check with game if they have stock.

I'm not really too interested. I've always preferred PvE over PvP and except for refining RvR, WAR doesn't really seem to bring anything new to the table. I want to see some new MMOs that don't follow the same old EverQuest formula.

well, the major content cut really undermined the game alot for me....plus, i've slated my Q4 budget for Mercenaries 2, Witcher Enhanced Edition and most definitely Red Alert 3. but come Q1, and IF the game is really as good as you guys said, i might just join the bandwagon, who knows? always keeping an open mind here. :)

according to the site there is a HUGE faction imbalance. everybody is destruction lol. if i get this game, i dont care if im gonna be outnumbered by the opposite faction, just means more pvp kills for my warrior priest :)shakmaster13

While the class imbalance is definitely there you wouldn't really know it atleast in the early going. On the server i've been playing on the population might be 1250 to 950 in favour of destruction. There always seems to be order kicking around PVP though and to be honest in the scenarios they win the majority... I think we will see the opposite of other games where the 'hardcore' played the 'evil' side .... I think in WAR we will see that flip.

But I'm planning an alt as an Archmage if I can. I have high hopes for this game, but I'm always hesitant to pre-order. I still don't know if I'll take that plunge.

that is a truth worth quoting, im going to leave mine for those who somehow miss it on the main post, because they really NEED to watch the trailer. :P

I'll definately be purchasing the game, for starters it sounds like a breath of fresh air from other MMOs ive played. I also love the animations from what i've seen in this game, take the mounts for example :)

you're in a clan already? damn, i should be that organised... anyone know if there are sepearte EU/US servers. because i just found out i need to find an EU clan.

I've been playing the Preview Weekend as an Archmage. I was actually playing a Shaman at first (the Archmage's mirror), but I quickly decided to switch to the underdog faction (Order is significantly outnumbered on my server.) The offense/defense-juggling mechanics of the Archmage/Shaman are awesome..really enjoyable classes.

Now, there's some major problems with the AI pathing in the Preview Weekend (for both mobs and pets), but a developer post from yesterday stated that this issue is being addressed. According to some closed-beta players I've talked to, the pathing was just fine up until the patch that came just as the Preview Weekend arrived. Disappointing, but hopefully it'll be fixed for the Open Beta.

Also, the graphics settings seem to be locked at medium-ish, with no way to customize them. The visuals look fine for the most part -- my main complaint is that animations look terrible at a distance (animation complexity is toned down at a distance to improve performance.) Also, when things get busy, certain spell effects seem to not get rendered (probably also to improve performance.) Hopefully there'll be a LoD adjustment for both of those in the retail game.

Other than that, I'm absolutely loving it. RvR is amazing, despite a few class balance issues. The Public Quest system is damn cool as well. Looking forward to both the Open Beta & final release.

hey i jus pre ordered it, and am downloading the open-beta, its taking really long thoguh, its 10gigs, and ive only gotten 3 percent in the past 2 hours, :(, is this because alot of people are downloading it you think ? or is it just me qq.jeezers
