The Sims 2, I bought a laptop for around 1,000 dollars!BreeBerry
Now thats a true fan. Hope it was worth it lol
The Germans! :)
Crytek mostly... I have not upgraded my PC for one specific game as such (can't afford that:(), but my last upgrade (about 8 months ago) finally let me play Far Cry the way it was ment to be played and I am considering another small upgrade to make sure I can at least play Crysis. Stalker was actually the game that made me upgrade my PC the last time, Far Cry was the first game I played after I finished building my new machine though...
In the past I upgraded for a few games as well, to a Vodoo 3 and then to a TNT2 as well as a few memory upgrades and CPU (from 386 33MHzCPU to 486 DX4 120MHz, which was my 1st AMD CPU... I have a Athlon 64 now). I can't really remember all the games that I upgraded for... Mech Warrior 2 for the TNT2 and I remember Battlefield 1942 finally made me realize that it was time to upgrade the TNT2 to a Geforce FX (5 series). Another game that made me want more processing power has always been the Total War series... I just have to max out those army sizes:)
If I remember right first it was Duke Nukem 3D that made me buy extra 4MB of RAM.
Then came Carmageddon 2:Carpocalypse Now! that couldn't run without a 3D accelerator so I bought my first Voodoo 2.
Over the next few years I made upgrades regularly and there were no games in particular that couldn't run smooth enough but then was Max Payne 1 which lagged significanly so I bought an entire new PC.
More upgrades over the years just to be up-to-date but then came The Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion so I had to change my entire PC again.
Now everything runs great but I have to see Crysis yet.
It had to be Company of heroes. I had an hp computer with 1.8 p4 256 mb ram and 32 mb nvidia card. I bought a new computer. Dell xps 410 2.66 intel core 2 duo 2gb RAM 250 Gb hard drive, sound blaster x-fi extreme music, Logitec G15, and G5 Nvidia geforce 7900 GTX 512 MB Windows Vista Premium ( Vista sucks )elgoyo
yes. i agree with you, vista sucks
F.E.A.R. was what made me upgrade a new video card, motherboard, and cpu.
Video card: Nvidia Geforce 7600 gt
CPU: AMD 3700
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology K8 Triton series nforce 4 sli series.
Basically I got a total upgrade that was not to long ago and it seems like now PCG says my computer is krap. I just can't keep up with all the new video cards and stuff and I thought this was a good upgrade considering I had a 6800 before I upgraded. Can anybody make any suggestions on video cards that are good that aren't too expensive.

Oh another question is sli really worth it?
The big one for me was BF2. It got me to finally upgrade from my four year old athlon with a geforce 2 to my new core 2 duo 7600gt.
Not the smartest upgrade from 6800 to 7600GT, a 6800 could had easily ran Fear as well and the difference between the two cards(depending on which 6800 you had) is small. X1950XT or 8600GTS are the only smart choises atm, and considering you already have 7600GT I'd rule any DX9 card out immediately, not an upgrade worth it imo. WHether SLI is worth it or not depends on what resolution you wanna play, but basically even 1 8800 should be enough for now, you can alsways get another one later if you need it.F.E.A.R. was what made me upgrade a new video card, motherboard, and cpu.

My comp is more than 5 years old. It has only 256 mb ram, 39 gb hard drive, and a 2.00 ghz processor ( thing is when i first bought this it was top of the line, funny how computer techonolgy gets outdated so fast.)
So ill never upgrade this, ill just buy a new one.
xbox360 is more powerful than my computer LOL

Thats a good idea :)
I was gone on a business trip for a few weeks, around the
time Hitman-Blood Money was to be released.
Got me a copy of it a Walmart, back to the Hotel with it.
When I got home I wanted to play it so bad.
I tried to turn on my computer, but my screen
was just black, So I opened my case.
The first thing I see is part of a small fan on
the bottom of my case, I was like WTF is that.
I removed my Asus Radeon 9800 XT ,
one fan came off, the other fan & the chrome plastic
melted into a big glob of plastic and copper.
(it was working fine before I left)
went to bestbuy and got a 7800 GS (was $325.00 I think)
I Think Crysis & UT3 will make me build a new computer.
First of all hello to all of you guys!!! Mine was Oblivion!!
I had athlon xp 2000+
512 ram
ati 9700pro
Not even at low settings with the lowest resolution.
Now with athlon 64 x2 3800
1gb ram
8600gts
it run at high settings and 1024res with a few lags on the world map.
Let's see... first one I can think of was Monkey Island. I didn't have the HD disk space for it, so had to buy a 20 MB hard drive to add onto my 286. Don't know how much that cost me.
Next upgrade was DOOM. The first one. Needed 4 MB of RAM to play it, back when RAM was new. Cost $400 for that. $100 per RAM chip.
Latest was Oblivion, upgraded my video card, mother board, and power source for around $700.
Oh yes, forever in dept to my gaming needs ;)
I had quite a medium-low end one since 2002.
After deciding I'll rather build a new one, I was with quite a low budget.
Half a year ago got myself Dual E 6400, 2 Gig 677 Ram, and was left with low cash, but was able to squeeze for 7600GS.
It's not that bad, now I'm just slowly saving for a good video card and still waiting patiently for R600 to see the price and performance.
Halflife, bought a Riva TNT 2 for that game (was running software before).
mrbojangles25
wow dude, wanna go out sometime, i did the exact same shiets, with the exact same card.
Unreal Tournament. The first one. I'm still running an Athlon 1Ghz Thunderbird.;)Bozanimal
